Romero will go to a big team for decent money because clubs can normally recognise good players in poor functioning teams better than fans. Romero is a good player. VDV I’m not so sure about now. He’ll have options but not sure what sort of money clubs will be offering
I'm not 100% on Berdezer, but he's got my attention back.

RE: Losing our two starting CBs. It might not happen. DeZeBob can't make them leave. I think both players will consider staying IF:

1. We stay up.
2. Our owners increase the pay structure.
3. Zebedi is giving them football they enjoy.

All 3 are possible. They are not all likely.

Personally, I think we'll stay up and maybe lose one, but not both. I'm fine with that. I don't think either are as bad as our performances show. We lack technical players, but that will supposedly (hopefully!) change next season and the pressure will drop off the defenders so they can focus on the game more easily. When we're losing balls we really shouldn't be losing and the ball is coming back at you seconds after moving it forward, you make mistakes (through tiredness, stress and confusion, which compound). It doesn't help that we've been asking them to beat players on twice their salary.

EDIT: Yes, I know my shorthand for Roberto De Zerbi needs work. I'm just trying some out. I'm leaning toward 'Deezer' atm. Fits well with Ebeneezer Goode :D

Bentancur is the logical. Porro would be my other choice

Sorry what? Porro? He's fucking awful. He's literally one of the first players we should be replacing in the summer. He's got a terrible attitude. Another Vicariom blaming other when he makes mistakes.

Honestly don't know what some of you are watching if he enters your head as captain material lol

I offer one caveat to my views on the whole back 5.

If De Zerbi keeps us up, which of course will in no large part be due to the players, and he finds a way of unlocking their individual and collective best, then it would be mad to let them leave

Whether I think any or all of that is likely is secondary to if it happens.

So I agree with you but there is also a space to change my view if yhe evidence supports it. And that isn't the odd moment but quality seen consistently.

Just look at Guardiola. Once your standards dip, take a seat on the bench, whoever you are. The way it should be.

This squad has largely outstayed its welcome.
I wouldn't trust them to maintain a high standard even if RDZ got a tune out of them in the short term.

If someone offered 50m+ I would want to sell him but the other side to that is I wouldn't trust the club to spend well any of the money raised.

Like with alot of players I think his relationship with fans and the club is broken so best for both sides if he does go.

He, like Romero, will go elsewhere level up and improve and we'll have egg on our faces again and the fans wanting him out will regret we sold him...as per.

Agreed generally. The two I'm not going for on that basis are Vic and Romero. Think it's too serious, for different reasons, with those guys. Romero for culture. Vic because he's shit.

Carrick another example.
Ledley King says Nouradine Naybet taught him you didnt have to run if you defended correctly to begin with. He said he improved King to his best version in one season by telling how to anticipate the optimum danger and read the opponents likely movement. VDV has very poor natural instincts and can't read the play. I honestly don't think he'll ever be an elite centerback.

After his attitude this season he can go. Not fit to lace vertonghens boots. Stood out in the ange suicide side because it utilised his one redeeming quality as a defender. Played like he doesn't want to be here so we won't be really missing much as he's clearly checked out some time ago. He may be better elsewhere but that just shows what a cunt he's been to this club this season. Toodaloo.

King was 24 when Naybet first came to spurs so it's not too late to learn for VDV. I personally would like to see him at LB next season if and that's a big if he stays which I doubt he will no matter what division we are in

Yeah put him in a team that dominates the ball and doesn't have to do as much penalty box defending he'll look brilliant. He's as good at anyone in the world at mopping up in a high line, chasing down runners and running forward with the ball. It's when you want him to sit deep, make blocks and win headers in the box you're in trouble.

He's the type of player that will elevate a team that has lots of possession but isn't built for scrapping at the bottom and playing Frankball shite.

Reckon he'd be ideal for Barca (well...until his hamstrings explode again)
