Player James Maddison

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

He simply HAS to play now....
If he's there just to gee up lesser players from the bench, then he's not playing anyway...
If he can give us 30 minutes per game for the final 4, then that's 2 hours football we get out of him that we wouldn't from sitting on the bench making Austin & Dragusin laugh!!

....but by our record, he'll come on against Villa on the hour, and hobble off again on 61 minutes!
:maddisonhmm: fuck this season to the hills and back!
As always. We are pinning our hopes on a player returning from injury, forgetting that he's pretty meh most of the time.

If he's not fit he's not fit, unfair on him to just throw him on the pitch when he hasn't played all season.

ACL type injuries are known to have a high chance of recurring if not managed properly. 100% not something you can rush.
Could finish his career once and for all if he’s not ready.

His game is based on sharp movements and turning.

15-20min cameos probably the most we can expect right now. Doesn’t even sound like he’s that close to that.
Just on the bench for moral support.

Fuck knows.

I’m the first to call our players out for being absolute pussies. But even I would think twice about this. It goes again and so does his career.

What is he now? 29? If I was being persuaded on yo the pitch early, give me a six year contract and I’ll play. Otherwise, no chance.
This is what the club does right... if he can't contribute on the pitch then get off the fucking bench. We don't need cheerleaders... we need players who can do something that might turn the game in our favour... this club just can't help embarrassing us. I'm sure the players on the field will up their game 5% because he is sitting on the bench clapping. To be honest, there are many on here clamouring for Madders to be captain next season. No thank you. We need a captain who plays more than 50% of the league games. Picking Madders means you better a pick a really good vice.

Some pillock was ranting on a Spurs facebook page a few weeks ago that the cause of all the injuries is players wearing little shin pads these days.

ACL's
Hamstrings.
Quads
Kneecaps
Shoulders.
Concussions.

All because of shin pads.

Miami.

Maddison as captain for me. Yes, the captain should be in a position to be playing more often than not but there can be numerous reasons why that doesn't happen.

It doesn't translate into giving the armband to someone like Romero, who in my opinion has made a mockery of the honour, and palpably failed in his duties, mostly because he is unsuited. A really poor choice.

Your captain needs to be a figurehead, accept ownership for on-team performances and provide the team with leadership. Someone who embodies what a club stands for. It's got to be someone who can be trusted.

And yes, sometimes the captain might make comments that other players should shy away from, but those comments should not serve to detract from failings which are less about the club and more about personal or team incompetence.

They do full contact sessions in training without wearing shin pads. That is the level of brains we are dealing with within the club though. A team who has suffered from a ridiculous injury list for years lets their players kick lumps out of each other with no shin protection. Every training video they aren't wearing them.

If there is that level of sense within the club, given our injuries, then what else stupid are they doing.

(of course shin pads dont contribute to your list, but they do prevent contact injuries, of which we have had).

Shin pads were actually invented in a time when toe punting players in the shins was a popular tactic believe it or not.
In the modern era, with so much outlawed they're not stopping much outside of utter GBH of tackles.
