Xavi hasnt played that many minutes on our pitch, 5 games not all 90 minutes looking at transfer market
Yeah but think of the sheer impact those 5 appearances could've had. The conumbulent resonance of the shallow turf system could've cause irreparable damage to his knee ligaments to the degree that an awkward landing in a random away game on a normal pitch could easily cause a rupturification.

And don't get me started on the 5G towers...

I find it hard to believe that a player had 5 appearances at home in the stadium wore his body down so much that it has caused his ACL to tear, that's some pretty freakish thing to happen especially considering we had players play 5x more mins on the same turf in the early days when we moved in and they were going relatively injury free.

Wasn't the point I was making, really.

Others said there's too many matches. I said get rid of the League Cup because its pointless.

It is. A 2nd domestic cup is ridiculous. Any match played in it is a match too many.
I completely disagree, probably purely due to nostalgia, but if personally given the choice I'd never give up the League Cup.

Possibly you could convince me that it should be a tournament that doesn't include those qualified for Europe, but let's be honest, the real issue is the stupid amount of games in the European competitions, that purely exist as a money spinning exercise.

Something like 60% of the sides that make up the CL "League phase" have no business being in the Premier European tournament. Scrap that and have those lot be in the Uefa Cup equivalent on their own, CL as just a pure knockout tournament for the actual good sides, and all of a sudden there's much less fixture congestion already.

Then go on and remove a bunch of the meaningless internationals that nobody care's about and the issue's gone entirely, and we still have our glorious Coca-Cola Cup.

Agreed. I'd also get rid of the ECL. And have fewer Europa League games. Scrap the league format, or at least make it shorter (6 games max).

Surely he's played more than 5 games. Does this include FA Cup game and Champions League?
He's training on our pitches every day!

It still baffles me that this style of pitch was ever deemed a good idea?!

Ironically, the League Cup was created to spin up money but doesn't spin up any money, and never really has done. It was created to replace revenue from lost matches from a planned reduction in teams per division and for those who had not qualified for Europe, and as a political maneuver against the FA by the Football League.

It was a hair brained, short sighted idea, as it was called in the 60s when it was created.

It should be for Championship-L2 only, if anything.

I don't really care too much about all that tbh, League Cup has been ingrained as part of the status quo for me since childhood, and accounts for two thirds of Spurs' trophy haul since I've been a fan. I'd be loathe to see it taken away in the name of easing congestion when there are much larger problems that could easily be pruned a little.

So do you remember when the club put out at the start of the season that we want to be able to compete in 4 competitions, we can't even compete in 1 ffs :D
