Yeah, but did they increase their wage bill sevenfold as well?
Yeah Ipswich were actually pretty sensible with their signings - they spent a load but it was mostly on top-end Championship level players/players with potential that they could either sell-on or would be useful if they went back down. Imagine their wages were v.modest compared to teams like QPR who offered massive wages to former top-players.

You can see it in their squad now: our old mate Jack Clarke was one of the signings and he, along with Philogene who they also signed that year, are their top scorers this season. Meanwhile they flipped Hutchinson and Delap for big money.

You may be right;

Tactics and the money-side ; are. the things I have very little grasp of when it comes to modern football.

I’m old school . And proud of it !

I come on here to learn about those kind of things; and I’ve picked up a few nuggets but not enough to make me an expert ( yet ! ) .

We live and learn .

Forget tonight’s events at the Parc des Princes ; here’s the big story of the evening:

It’s in “ Sport “ ( in Spanish ) ; so no wonder the discerning sports journalists at the BBC picked up on it and re-broadcasted the story .

I know its highly unlikely to happen, but, would Marcus Rashford be a good fit?
Ok guess I should expand on that.

An on-form, motivated Marcus Rashford is actually a very useful player, but we've seen his ups and downs at United over the years and how utterly wank he can be when he's not happy.

He's on uber wages and, if we somehow survive, we'd be bringing him into a club that's been floundering for years. A bit like RKM, we'll be quite low down his list of preferred suiters, and we'll probably end up with a sulky bellend milking the club of 250k+ a week if we're the only club that will take him.

He's exactly the type of player and character we should be avoiding, athough the link itself is absurd and fanciful anyway - I just can't see it happening. If we do stay up and he's a target it shows the club have still learned nothing from our litany of ginormous mistakes.

That looks about right from my reading. Thanks.

With Vicario off if we go down we'll probably be scouring the bargain bins for an experienced keeper as still not sure we can have total faith in Kinsky yet. Both Karl Darlow and Nick Pope are out of contract. Both done the rounds in the champo over the years. If we stay up you'd hope we set our sights a lot higher but wont hold my breath.

I've heard we have instructed intermediaries to begin dialogue over a potential move for Neville Southall

Pinch of salt ofcourse and dependant on us staying up
