Very simple solution if we stay up
We need to fully cull the current leadership group which means good bye to Vic, Romero, VDV and Porro. These 4 will forever be associated with the 24/25 and 25/26 league results but we should be able to hold out and get decent fees for the lot of them. Next, I would get shot of Spence (show pony and not good enough), Sarr (not good enough - ceiling reached already), Richy (slow and genuinely rubbish), Dragusin (overrated) and Solanke (unreliable and not even remotely good enough). Don't waste time bartering on these 5, just move them on to the first bidder. With no European football we don't need to bring in 9 players for the 9 leaving... 4 or 5 to improve the first eleven. Love the Kinsky redemption arc but go get Verburggen from Brighton. We then need to being Vuskovic in get Senesi in on a free and the buy another top CB. Someone like Scalvini from Atalanta. Danso would then be 4th choice. We then need a top draw RB. I've been impressed with Kayode at Brentford, he will do. I am happy to see if Bayern would do another one season loan on Palhinha but no way I'm parting way with 30m for a guy that will be 31 before next season starts. But the biggest thing this club can do is go all in on a top 9. We need a player that strikes fear into the opposition whoever they are. Test the water with Osimhen. It will be like singing Klinsmann when we were utter dross. He comes with a ton of baggage and would cost 60m in transfer and another 25m in salary per year. But what a statement it would be. That is what we need. A player who can win a game on his own. Can you imagine a front 4 of Kudus on the right, Gallagher or Madders (depending on opponents) in the ten, Osimhen up top and Simons (or a proper left winger) coming in off the left.
A number of our players who we need to move on (eg Bissouma at end of his contract) will not generate much in the way of fees, yet to buy any decent player the average price will be anywhere between £50m and £100m.
So I'd guess we might be looking at bringing in up to say 8 players of whom one/two might be free, and likely a few of our u21 players (eg Vuskovic, Phillips, Devine, Lankshear) - so we pay decent money for maybe 3 players - Eg.
GK Vicario out (£20m), Darlow in (free)
CB Romero out (£60m), Vuskovic as starter.
CB Dragusin (£30m - agent keeps on demanding a move) , Phillips as 4th CB,
CM Palhinha (£30m) convert from loan
CM/AM Devine (versatile CM/AM) may be needed as AM backup to Maddison depending on Kuludevski recovery timescales, can also play CM/DM
FWD 1 Player able to score/assist and play right sided
FW 2 As FWD 1, but mainly play left sided
CF Lankshear back up to Solanke
Kolo Muani (loan ends) and likely Richarlison leave, as well as Bissouma and Sarr.
Whilst we don't have european matches (which means a 60 game season) we will still be playing a 45 game season, but we use 2026/27 as a season to bring through some of our best most experienced youngsters (Vuskovic, Phillips, Devine Lankshear) some of whom will fly, one or two might prove to be average (but replacing players such as Bissouma who have been average for Spurs). This is a good preparation for 2927/28 when we hope to be back in europe with a need for a larger squad and 'Club Trained players)
The biggest issues we have atm is lack of creativity and lack of goal scorers - the first will be alleviated with Maddison back, don't know about Kulusevski, Simons out until next spring, so Devine in fills a possible gap. The second (goalscorers) is a real problem as there are few good goalscorers in europe - so we need to buy plus try to bring through Lankshear. IMO we need to replace both Kolo Muani and Richarlison, so we need to keep Solanke and see if Lankshear can show enough next season - leaving us with :
RW - Kudus + new Fwd
CF - Solanke + Lankshear
LW - New Fwd + Tel and Odobert
