Anyone see the penalty that title chasing Celtic got given by VAR last night?

I'm SURE Hearts will be feeling like Spurs fans this morning....
Only difference is, everyone OUTSIDE of Celtic wants to see them win the League, so will be fully on their side....

Whereas everyone WANTS to see us crash and burn, so we're told to just get on with it..

But you have to question what's going on, when VAR decisions have directly conspired to a situation where not only the SPL goes to the final day (and GD) but potentially so will the Top AND Bottom of the Premier League....

It's almost like..... They WANT THE Drama for their TV RATINGS!!

And fouls per card.
And fouls/cards given by certain refs to/against teams.
And I'm sure more to come.
People are now doing their homework, and they will dig more out.
Funny thing is, I've heard POLAR OPPOSITE theories from different fans as to why there who the 13+ minutes added on was 'designed' to help the other night....

West Ham fans seem to think it was the PL/PGMOL helping Spurs by adding on as much time as possible, but realistically it allowed LEEDS 2 glorious chances to WIN IT...and when Maddison finally DID do something that benefitted US... the ref/VAR simply ignored and dismissed it!

We DID take advantage of the added time, but weren't allowed to benefit from the obvious penalty.

At least 10 of the 13 minutes were desperate attempts to give Leeds penalties. VAR earned their bonus' for that effort.
Anyone saying that excessive time wasn't that needs to go back to school.

Likewise, the added time vs Brighton WAS our fault. Without the OTT celebrations and "cramp" we wouldn't have had 8 minutes.

Can someone answer a question .

How many actual PL referees are there ? and also how many refs are used in the VAR room ? as in is there a team 5/10/15 etc that are used throughout a season .

This is a good point. No way they should be allowing the refs to be in the VAR room. If you are going to use VAR it should be a group independent staff that don't actually ref other PL games throughout the season. PL ref's should not be allowed in the rooms at all.

Double whammy with the ref situation.
A) there's not loads of them
B) most of them come from the northern half of the country. Very few hail from anywhere south of Bedford.

That's interesting , I would have thought that it was qualified referees in the VAR room , maybe not PL quality but a complete understanding of the rules .
I find the huge variations in interpretation of rules amazing . Maybe it's more the about how convoluted the rule book has become .
Whatever it is it's a fecking shambles and has completely ruined a great sport .

There was a study a season or 2 back where they showed how often the more senior official was controlling the game.
IE, junior official on the pitch being told what to do by senior in VAR, or junior in VAR being too scared to over rule the senior ref on the pitch. It wasn't even debatable then.
It just doesn't work when they're in bed together. It'd be like me letting my child mark her own homework.

They will say they are qualified but what I am more getting at is PL referees have no doubt different biases towards teams and the PL will deny this but it is 100% the case. It's a total mess either way and game has been ruined.

The solution always has been that all top level refs are international. English refs only ref overseas. And they all move around week to week.
You cancel out all bias that way. You also eventually end up with an international standard way of reffing, which means Uefa games are reffed to the same standard as any league in Europe.

It would be naive top think our sport is unblemished. Top tier football is not a paragon of virtue, but it's how it's corrupt. For example, I don't think there is an agenda to send Spurs down. Nobody made the club so utterly inept at replacing Son and Kane. Nobody made us have so many injuries.Nobody made Richarlison slower than Joe fucking Rodon.

I'd be curious to know how badly we have been impacted by incorrect decisions though; that's cards, fouls that aren't, fouls that should have been....right into the minutia of it all but that way can only lead to madness.

The Italian scandal proves that nobody is immune though.

The problem is, those who rate the accuracy of cards, fouls etc, are the refs themselves.

Cards per foul we are 0.22 the spread is about 0.16 to 0.22 across the whole league. That isnt that big a spread bro, and not one that indicates bias and defintly not when uou take into account our attempted tackles are close to 900+ where the spread is 700-900 odd.

Not even taking into account most of our defenders are absolutely terrible at tackling lol.
