Competition World Cup 2026

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I always feel the need to point out how much of this, the bloated 48 team format, the cynical pricing strategy, the suboptimal city and scheduling selections, the farcical advertising break for "water", is FIFA's responsibility and fault.

If FIFA were doing its job as a steward of the game and handed America a properly sized tournament with the laws of its game held firm and left the advertising suits in charge of bringing the party, we would bring the party, we're good at that.

FIFA probably should also be stripping the tournament (or at least threatening to) because of the way Trump is ruining it, but that's downstream of other bad decisions that already put this on vulnerable ground.

USA 94 was one of the best tournaments ever staged and it's unbelievable how badly they're fucking up the sequel.

The promise of ticket prices collapsing may benefit me personally though

Hope you and all your mates from Curaçao can get a good deal .

You’re my “ dark horses “ to win it btw .

F/ck all you cynical doubters : The World Cup 2026 has just become truly real :

I guess I will watch the ko rounds but I can't be arsed to watch 3 weeks of group matches.

It’s so pointless since they had this great idea that the 3rd place progresses too.

5 weeks is too long for any kind of tournament.
Even a snails Marathon world cup

I think it's BS.

“Currently, there are no known issues affecting the Iraq National Team players, and they remain on track to compete in the World Cup,” the statement reads. “We maintain daily communication with FIFA and will continue to prioritize these players in accordance with the President’s Executive Order, ensuring an incredible and safe tournament.”

Reports circulated online and on social media Tuesday that five players, including Luton Town’s Ali al-Hamadi, were denied visas. According to Iraqi news site The New Region, the Iraq Football Association told the outlet, “The news is false, and the truth is that all the national team players have obtained entry visas to America,” and said that players are also in the process of getting their Canadian visas.
