You're going back a long way to find metrics like that for us against Chelsea at the Bridge.

It's up to you of course, but I'm getting behind the manager.

It’s genuinely like we are cursed. No matter what happens, we always lose there. I don’t understand that no matter if all the players have been replaced and there are two completely different squads, all the players have changed over the years, they’ve got worse, managers have come and gone, we have a top manager and they have a caretaker, they play shit and we play better, no matter what the circumstances, we always lose there.

It’s just staggering. I don’t understand it. Surely once in a while you’d expect we’d get some luck or the run of the ball and somehow get a result there. But no.

We are cursed but in this particular case it's because we replaced Kane and Son with... not Kane and Son.

So that's entirely self inflicted.

I'm just happy we have a manager again who can get metrics like those out of the players at his disposal. Bodes well for next year - whatever league we're in

I fucking love Archie Gray and I cannot wait to see the back of Kolo Muani but you're not being sensible here.

Since De Zerbi came in - and especially since he decided on this 11 in this formation (post Sunderland) we have not just been better on all key metrics but have been SMASHING those key metrics. The improvement over what came before is staggering.

So, no. I disagree. As much as I hate Muani and love Gray I think messing with the system that has us picking up points and winning these key metrics which leads to those points is a completely insane thing to suggest. As much as I love Archie I'm not swapping him with Muani and moving Gallagher wide right like Tudor did. It didn't work. What De Zerbi is doing is WORKING.

It might be too little too late but with the shit he has to work with he's doing wonders. Just get behind him and hopefully he keeps us up and then NEXT year you'll see a whole different show.
I agree with all of this except one thing, the squad itself is rotten and needs gutting. Otherwise De Zerbi and the next guy will get sacked. I’ve been saying it for months, the issue is these players.
Beyond the lack of football intelligence and discipline, there’s a weak mentality running through the entire squad. One setback and they either turn into headless chickens or completely cave in.

Did he get unlucky tonight or should the subs have been made earlier?

Subs were on waiting to come on when Muani made the shit pass for the second goal.

We had been dominating for the previous 7-10 minutes (field tilt and all that boring shit).

He got unlucky when Kudus reinjured himself meaning Muani is literally our only option.

Cursed.

I’d have expected the kitchen sink last 10 mins , disappointed to see us passing it around side to side , just get bodies in the box , Chelsea were so average but we just never had a proper go . If we go down I will look at the last 2 games and wonder why we were so passive .

Honestly so weird man.

Yes. But also no.

Not when you look at who is posting what and their positon on certain managerial changes in thepast and the outcome of those positions...

Much easier to blame someone else than take personal responsibility for getting it wrong.

Well I agree somewhat but tonight we absolutely did enough under adversity to come back and get the result we needed. One big mistake from someone who most definitely won't be here next year cost us. That and our lack of options. Don't think this one was on mentality - at least not entirely. Have seen worse performances with much better players tbh.

But yes - we need a decent refresh in Summer. I have all confidence in De Zerbi to over see that.

Regrettably; this WAS us having a go....... Injury has deprived the squad of all it's cutting edge. We're a blunt instrument aside from a brief cameo from Maddison.

I agree regarding this game, they showed fight (tho lacking quality and intelligence). But across a whole season you just know this squad will throw any manager under the bus eventually.

I have full faith in De Zerbi (for two years) to get a handle on this squad. He's like Postecoglou only better. They will believe in him and he will get them playing. I have zero doubt.

Whether he gets the 2,3 4 key players he needs from our owners? That's the biggest worry imo.

You can't blame him for Muani's pass. We have made too many individual mistakes from different players all season.
Its a weak mentality and poor quality of players really,
Without that error Maddison and the others come on and we equalise he's a genius and we are safe...
