Management Roberto De Zerbi

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Madders talks better than virtually anyone i can remember...... So eloquent and likeable..... Dunno if he fancies management but he'll be a huge loss to us and the game when he bows out.

Just listen to how he says "I love this club soooo much"....

We seriously fucked up not snaring him from Norwich before Leicester got their mitts on him.
Problem for RDZ……appoint Madison or leave VDV as captain if he stays?

Simple fact is, a good coach came in and got 3 wins and 2 draws out of a team that hadn't won in 16 games. With an injured squad.
The players ain't title contenders but they're way better than the last 2 years have shown.
We'll clear a lot out. That's a given.

Who? Call them out. Probably Windy for sure.

💯 - and he's going large on X (despite having noisily stormed off it to Bluesky only to slink back once he realised the metrics outweighed his so-called principles  ) bashing the Club for not sacking Lange and Venkateshan. Which would be perfectly fine except he loudly denounced the one good decision they made in hiring De Zerbi.

I mean I like Windy and TEI but fuck me they are absolutely incapable of any self-reflection.

Yep, good squads finish 17th back to back. It's also a mystery why we can't string 3-4 passes together and look like an actual professional football team.

No work needed in the summer, just get Kudus and Simons back who have been unreal since signing.
It's like you're not registering what I'm saying.

We've actually looked a hell of a lot better at both passing and controlling the ball since RDZ came in, so there was certainly an issue with the management, rather than the players.

There's no doubt that we need some squad surgery but many of our players aren't as bad as they've been made to look.
That's what I was saying and in comparison to the likes of Brentford, Sunderland and the like, our squad is much more talented imo, it just needs proper coaching and direction.

A couple!!!!!

We are so far off being a European team right this minute, it's not funny. Everton were really shit yesterday and we still only managed one goal. We were incredibly lucky we were facing them and not Villa.

We need a serious bump in quality, especially in attack, and some players with much stronger mental fortitude.

Thank Christ we have De Zerbi. The best appointment we could have made.
A lot depends on how our injured players return, and when.
No Europe next season means fewer games and our squad is already bloated, so it's not going to be an easy task to make massive changes, at least it we're wanting quality upgrades.

I think it's unlikely we'll shift Madders, Deki, Kudus, Tel, Xavi or Odobert, so it'll likely be a wide player to replace Kolo. Plus Moore may well be back.

Striker wise, we'll probably sell one and try to get an improvement but the market is sparse right now, and Lanks could well get the 3rd/2nd spot?

Don't get me wrong, there's a lot I'd like to cull but I'm trying to be realistic with expectations here and I do think that RDZ will improve a lot of our current lot.

I like DeZerbi and think he'll improve us, but if he manages any of those three things I'll be absolutely astonished.

A comfortable mid-table finish is the limit of my hopes for next season. And that's no slight on DeZerbi. I just think that's where we are as a club right now.

I felt that for this season - and would have thought it a perfectly fine finish for Frank had things gone that way.

I see a much higher ceiling under De Zerbi - especially with no Europe I think a 23/24 like bounce could be on the cards. Obviosuly depends on the Summer Window but I love what he said about already seeing the team he wants "in his mind".

Of course if we don't finish in the European spaces that's also understandable. Let's just hope the usual suspects don't get their sacky sack ways like they usually do. Get behind the bloke. He's the real deal.

Given? I'm not so sure of anything with V and L still there...
They don't seem to be going anywhere and we need to buy and sell seriously this summer..we need a complete change of front 3...can't win if we rely on our midfielders to score...
Here's hoping they step on a land mine...

I listen to them. Nathan does have good takes on football. They just love forcing their morally superior political takes into the podcast. There’s literally no need for it and they do come unstuck. De Zerbi is the perfect example

Exactly this. And even that wouldn't be so bad if they were consistent but Windy made a huge song and dance about leaving X for Bluesky because "principles" and just eventually slunk back in when it became obvious Bluesky doesn't have the reach he requires for his broader interests.

A classic case of: "If you don't like these principles, I have others" :D

Yeah, I thought the same, but there were people on here saying we should be in or around the top 4 "now we had a proper coach" in charge". I see some of the same faces now claiming we're going to win the league under DeZerbi.

It just ends up leading to the same toxic spiral of lashing out against the players and manager, when those unrealistic expectations aren't met. I'd just like us to stay a bit more grounded for once.

No Europe should be a big help. We played 52 matches this season, and 60 games the previous one, which no doubt contributed to our injury situation, and ultimately our League position this year and last.

And of course a lot of our rivals do have Europe, so they might struggle with the volume of games. Still, I think it's going to be tough to break into the top 6 or even top 8. The Premier League is so competitive now.

Of course if we don't finish in the European spaces that's also understandable. Let's just hope the usual suspects don't get their sacky sack ways like they usually do. Get behind him the bloke. He's the real deal.
I had my doubts about Frank and Tudor (and Conte, Nuno and Mourinho, before them) but I still got behind them, at least at first.

I'll do the same with DeZerbi, and just hope other Spurs fans will too, and don't start calling for his sacking at the first run of losses. After all as somebody once said, "one thing is 100 per cent sure, we will lose football matches".

Of course De Zerbi should have a huge amount of credit in the bank after achieving the near impossible by keeping us up, but football fans are a fickle lot, with short memories.

I think a lot of players will push to leave. Others have contracts expiring etc.

No, it has always been both, too many shit players, and shit managers who can't develop players.

It never an either/or problem. What RDZ showed, was that he could raise shit, to just about functional.

And we haven't had a manager good manager or one that fit the club since Poch.

It was always the players, and always the managers...

I actually think we could potentially finish ahead of United next season but their turnaround is exactly what we'll need to see.

I do think with De Zerbi that we have one of the best coaches in the league now, especially with Pep gone. This is a huge opportunity for us to close the gap now with one game a week. Lets hope we take it.
Me in a year's time after prophesying we'll do a Leicester 2015/16 with only one match per week:

Leicester only won the League with the help of the match officials and their opponents rolling over for them.

After the way we've been officiated this season, and the clear hatred virtually every other team has shown for us, do you seriously think we'll be allowed to win the league, were we even to get anywhere near it?

Even in the Leicester season half the motivation for everyone wanting them to win it was to stop us doing so. If it had been Woolwich or Chelsea challenging back then, people would have been a lot less invested in the so-called "fairy tale".
