ENIC In or ENIC Out

Yeah, doesn't sit right for me either. Maybe it's true that Levy was hiding things from them, but guess who've been the owners for like 20 years? ENIC. It's the Lewis family's responsibility to be informed about the state of the club. But here they are pretending they just arrived last August.
this club has been run the same from the start. do the bare minimum to be as profitable as possible. there was a period when we needed to compete in europe to help build the stadium but that's no longer needed. the goal is don't get relegated and reap profits. that's it. it was levy's mandate and it's the same mandate now. the lewis' view is we got unlucky with injuries that made us sweat a bit but under normal circumstances the plan is sound. finish above relegation and keep cashing checks.

these cascading statements and interviews to paper over the cracks are pathetic after what we've just been through. i'd bet my right arm our signings this summer will be a continuation of the recruitment that's brought us to where we are now. it'll be aging players out of contract and punts on youth. we won't sign a new highest earner or cast out the failed signings at a loss. we're going to run out basically this same squad next season. bet on it

All fair enough.

I think ENIC have stitched themselves up here just like Jordan does. They've nowhere to run now if they dont invest heavily and correctly. I suspect though they will have a different view on the word "invest" to us fans. They will have to put substantial cash in, but I bet they dontm
It doesn't matter whether it's ENIC or a future owner, there is a credibility gap between the luxurious top-of-market stadium and the money spent to put top-of-market players in the white shirts that exists independently of results on the pitch and will continue to create destructive friction between the club, its managers and its fans unless and until that credibility gap is bridged.

It offends their Moneyball sensibilities, but they have to please Sky Sports and Fabrizio Romano and all the bullshitters. There is no other path through.

Woolwich conquered that demon, Vinai should know this, but he's an idiot.

Doesn't sit right with me Enic blaming Levy. You think if enic said to Levy here's 300m this summer go spend it and win something, he'd have turned it down?
Yes. He would have.

He'd have tried to convince them to spend it on infrastructure, property, or other projects that don't benefit the the team but have a higher long term financial yield.

ENIC's money WAS Levy's money. IS Levy's
money.

He owns 30% 😆

The Levy revisionism going on here is actually really funny

You don't go to every game, home and away, and pour every working hour into a project to do that.

Don't get wrong, it's certainly a Joe Lewis thing that he'll have seen us and no different to a painting or a sculpture he expected to just accumulate value with no effort, but he deployed DL to do that an I think it's one thing to blame him for our lack of trophies, but another to treat it as if he did nothing.

My read on is it Joe simply didn't give a fuck. The Lewis family owned the club in name only - it was Levy's baby.

Joe never invested his own money, never gave a statement, pretty much never came to the ground. He didn't care as long as Levy was growing the thing. He'd have a wee bit of influence here or there, chat to Levy on the yacht in the summer, but he clearly wasn't interested in football.

Now the kids have gained control, decided Levy was doing a shit job, kicked him out, and started off doing an even worse job.

What happens next is anyone's guess. Based on what we've seen so far, it probably won't be very good/competent but it certainly won't be the same as the first 20 years of ENIC. These kids sure ain't doing things the same as Joe, or else Levy would still be in charge and we wouldn't even know their names.

I like the statement. It is quite direct and leaves no hiding place.

Tbh I am sick of all the moaning and toxicity by some of the fanbase since Sunday.

Yeah it was two seasons from hell. But we finally have a top manager in charge, and all the leadership are saying the right things. I do think we will see change.

You can either be optimistic, or just continue fucking moaning.

I don't think it does the club any good when all you see are Spurs fans calling Vinai a cunt even now. I was guilty of it too, but now we stayed up, how about getting behind the people at the club and seeing what happens from here?
We have a very weird fan base mate.

There are actually people on here who would prefer to see us 'Lose with Levy' than win with someone else.

The mourning needs to end

Wow the irony. You've spent about 20 years preferring that we 'lose with Levy' than win anything, demonstrated by your glee and "I told you so" every time things were going badly, contrasted with your disappearance any time things were going well. Everyone on here knows that you hate Levy more than you love Spurs, which has always been the problem with your twisted views. I wouldn't say we have a very weird fan base generally, but clearly there a few very odd 'fans'...

No one on here (other than you) has ever preferred that we 'lose with Levy' - many are contrasting his approach with that of his successors (which seems a sensible thing to do), and most are recognising both the good and the bad in doing so. There aren't many on here who are as incapable of nuance as you.

I think this is our only hope. It is all we have to cling on to.

I suspect they will continue to fuck up, finding it too hard and then ultimately sell when they realise they cant do it. So better than what we have had to endure the last two decades. At least a chink of hope is there.

Hopefully they don't do too much damage before they sell, at least.

It's all very Succession to me. Who knows, the kids might genuinely mean well, but are they serious people?

We could well have the least qualified owners of any major club in world football. Just a couple randos born into it whose primary experience seems to be being on the board of one of Joe's businesses and overseeing rich people shit like art collections and country clubs. I have little love for Joe or Levy but they were at least legit, hardened business people.

ENIC have effectively been hoisted by their own petard. It was so obvious that they should have sold in the months after the new stadium was delivered. The valuation was at its highest. The sales pitch was self evident - here’s a famous London club, in the most competitive league in the world with, arguably, the greatest stadium in world sport.

But they dithered. Their incompetence is so profound that they assumed the stadium would conjure up success rather than the players playing there.

Perhaps they bought Daniel’s shtick - he was obviously convinced that FFP was going to rebalance the league. And let’s not forget the grubby European Super League. The perfect opportunity to make even more money whilst being even less competitive.

The gig’s up.

Agreed. The kids (I say about people who are either my own age or old enough to be my own parents) are either going to learn that they need to put competent people in place to run it for them as best as possible. Or they will sell up eventually.

Probably the latter but the former does happen from time to time.

i said do the bare minimum not nothing.

To be clear, it is absolutely still needed financially speaking.

Despite Levy's best efforts, Spurs do not play in the NFL, you make your money by achieving a place among the business end of the top competitions.
i think the financial outlay required to get into and compete in europe is a larger risk than they are willing to take and they'd prefer the safe money of the bottom half of the table.
