And it's not just that the two things are inconsistent with one another. Both the sucking up to Levy initially and scapegoating him for all the problems now are being done in a way that's just nakedly self-serving and reactive to the narrative in the moment. Someone used the word "unctuous" earlier and that's exactly it, the sense of a salesman desperate to tell you what you want to hear is palpable with this guy.
what do you want him to say about the mess that he is trying to sort out after Levy left? People want communication and honesty but when they get it they don't like it.
