Doesn't sound good, does it? We have to assume he's not coming back.
A serious club goes out and buys someone in the summer on that assumption.
... and did his stupid sneaky little "laughing" Gooner meme celebration....It was a clash of knees with Marc Guehi at home to Palace.
IIRC it was between 2 legs of the ropey league at the tail end of the season.
Unsurprisingly, fucking Eze scored a belter

There's apparently some experimental treatment to re-grow cartilage being researched in Germany. But it is still on the "experiment on mice" stage. So god knows what the timeline is for human testing let alone treatmentSounds like Ledley's issue. I doubt they've made any major breakthroughs in the last decade. Stems cells won't work since it's not cell-based, or so I think. It really does sound like he's either fucked or on the receiving end of a major breakthrough in knee surgery.

Our game against Palace in May 2025. One of our last games before the EL final.
He's the first manager in history to play a player when they have a slight knock, apparently. Also told the medical staff that told him he absolutely can't play, to go fuck themselves, and beat them with a 6er of Foster's.
Ange had his flaws, obviously, but some of the rhetoric on here is embarrassing. There's not a premier league player that's sat out with a slight knock at least a few times, and if they did, this forum would be feral, like a player missing because they were on antibiotics for example. This is the same medical staff that cleared James Maddison without surgery for a partial ACL and proceeded to rupture it almost immediately.

Update from Swedish team doctor
"Cartilage injuries, like in Dejan's case, are troublesome. They are difficult to treat. Plus, he has it in a place that gets a lot of stress. The injury simply hasn't healed enough to handle that stress," he explained.
When asked if the Spurs man will be able to come back and play football again, the doctor said: "I have high hopes for that and I really hope so."
WOW - high hopes and really hope so... not a firm yes.
I don't think he's going to play at the highest level ever again.
Hopefully we can collect on the insurance...

Cartilage doesn't really re-grow so the best that we can hope for is that he finds some sort of balance like Ledley between playing and constant rehab. We should just let him rehab as long as he has a contract. Maybe it will heal on it's own, or maybe a medical miracle will appear in the meantime. We're very much on the verge of revolution in medicine with CRISPR so may as well keep playing your hand and stall for time while there is still a chance.

That's fine. So we inject the mouse and stick that in his knee. Hmm. It might squeak a bit at first, and he'd have to avoid the cheese room, but at least he'd be on the pitch. There's apparently some experimental treatment to re-grow cartilage being researched in Germany. Treated with what?

Ah, sorry, I see what you did there. I thought this was a breaking medical advancement.
