Doesn't sound good, does it? We have to assume he's not coming back.

A serious club goes out and buys someone in the summer on that assumption.

so i was rewatching the dark knight today and this happened GIF

Souza can play right wing according to Tudor

I think we've got ourselves another Danny Thomas situation unfortunately....
Can't see him coming back from this now...

Shame, cos it was "just a knock"!

Like saying the Texas Chainsaw massacre was "just a scratch"!

Sounds like Ledley's issue. I doubt they've made any major breakthroughs in the last decade. Stems cells won't work since it's not cell-based, or so I think. It really does sound like he's either fucked or on the receiving end of a major breakthrough in knee surgery.

There's apparently some experimental treatment to re-grow cartilage being researched in Germany. But it is still on the "experiment on mice" stage. So god knows what the timeline is for human testing let alone treatment

He's the first manager in history to play a player when they have a slight knock, apparently. Also told the medical staff that told him he absolutely can't play, to go fuck themselves, and beat them with a 6er of Foster's.

Ange had his flaws, obviously, but some of the rhetoric on here is embarrassing. There's not a premier league player that's sat out with a slight knock at least a few times, and if they did, this forum would be feral, like a player missing because they were on antibiotics for example. This is the same medical staff that cleared James Maddison without surgery for a partial ACL and proceeded to rupture it almost immediately.

The combo of our awful medical staff, along with Ange overplaying favorites and not rotating enough, was absolutely deleterious to our squad health the past two seasons.

We should just let him rehab as long as he has a contract. Maybe it will heal on it's own, or maybe a medical miracle will appear in the meantime. We're very much on the verge of revolution in medicine with CRISPR so may as well keep playing your hand and stall for time while there is still a chance.

Update from Swedish team doctor

"Cartilage injuries, like in Dejan's case, are troublesome. They are difficult to treat. Plus, he has it in a place that gets a lot of stress. The injury simply hasn't healed enough to handle that stress," he explained.

When asked if the Spurs man will be able to come back and play football again, the doctor said: "I have high hopes for that and I really hope so."

WOW - high hopes and really hope so... not a firm yes.

I don't think he's going to play at the highest level ever again.

Hopefully we can collect on the insurance...

:levywhoa:

It might happen to players at other teams, but it's beyond belief.

I don't think it's about factoring in when Kulusevski might return, or at what level, as the former looks highly unlikely, let alone to PL-level, but hoping he is one day simply able to play football again.

Whatever frustration we may feel won't touch the sides of those being felt by the man himself.

Cartilage doesn't really re-grow so the best that we can hope for is that he finds some sort of balance like Ledley between playing and constant rehab.

That's fine. So we inject the mouse and stick that in his knee. Hmm. It might squeak a bit at first, and he'd have to avoid the cheese room, but at least he'd be on the pitch.

Honestly, I think he's got time left to recover, but I doubt he'll be in contract when he does. It's sad, but hope seems lost.
