It was never going to work. This was a man who interviewed for the Man U and Chav job and those two clubs went for Amorim and Maresca. Both those managers are no longer at those respective clubs. Ultimately, Frank is small time. He was a small cog in the Brentford wheel that was easily replaced and his tactics have always been pragmatic and risk averse. It does make me laugh that the media have given him a free pass when in reality his level of shite is the main reason we spent the second half of the season up to our necks in shite.

tbf Maresca isn't at Chelsea because they are a basket case

As I mentioned in the film thread, watching Moneyball, which inspired the Brentford model of management, the manger isn't that important other than coaching set plays. You just have to recruit well and play percentages.

It works ( if done effectively) if your aspiration is to finish 17th or higher . And fair dues to the Brentfords , Bournemouths , Sunderlands etc of this world for achieving it . It’s the hardest task in modern football. Anything else is a bonus ; and that takes a lot of pressure off once survival has been attained.

It doesn’t necessarily work if you apply the same strategy to “ a bigger “ club who are looking to achieve top six as a minimum.

History tells us that .

Club went from manager with aura and charisma to a personality vacuum

I mean look at the state of it, we should have known from then
Have to be honest. Wenger and Manuel pellegrini didnt cover themselves in glory wearing a tracksuit either.

Yeah, largely agree - although I think the end of Moneyball mentioned that the Red Sox won the World Series copying this approach. Baseball is far more a game of individual statistics.

Frank's cunning plan, in fact so clever in its creation that he blindsided everyone, was to get sacked by us, only to walk right into the Liverpool role.

Wait for Frank to walk into the press conference, announcing that he is sure the Liverpool players won't like him, but once he gets them sorted on set-pieces and advises Szlobzslai to stop that outside the box shooting lark, that better days lay ahead.

Behind those scared eyes was a man of significance.

Let him be linked with the Liverpool job... THEN we'll see the wider football world's TRUE opinion of him!

The media seemed to love him, but that was when he was ruining US...
LETS SEE how they react to the idea of him playing Frank ball at Liverpool...

My guess is they wouldn't fancy it ALL OF A SUDDEN!

Exactly!! Its almost like the people in the know running clubs know better than some begrudging bitter crone in the the papers.
Apart from our lot tgat is

I think he has more ego than that

He'll want to prove he isnt a one hit wonder

Comes over all nicey nicey but I sense theres a bit of an asshole in there - has to be really to do the job in the first place

And once he fails, again, then he might go that route

If he restores his reputation at international level though? Saying that, I don’t know anything to do with the circumstances surrounding that role.

But yeah, if I am him, I am trying to get back into the Premier League. Failure at us isn’t exactly a black mark on your name.

It should be! But agree, it wont be seen that way

Despite RDZ absolutely EMBARRASING him in only 7 games - still cant get over how that seems to have escaped the media
