Yes, we clearly signed him knowing that his domestic situation at the end of the season would make it highly unlikely he would want to make his move permanent allowing the club to avoid a PR problem by not picking up his option after his goal saved us from relegation.

Got to say the expenditure of comment towards Palhinha kind of explains why we finished 17th for the second season running.
The guy did his job. He played his heart out for the club which is the least expected of every player.
He would not have been on our bench a few years ago, although he probably could have been useful but I don't think we are finishing top 8 if Palhninha was a regular starter for us next season.
If we don't sign him I probably think that's a better sign than if we do, but only because it should suggest we don't envisage another relegation fight.
The gratitude and warmth to Palhnina doesn't change if we don't ever see him in a Spurs shirt again.
In fact like Son, obviously for very different reasons, it's a perfect way to depart.
