Player João Palhinha

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Palhinha is divorced with two small kids (3 and 1) living with his ex-wife in Portugal.
A small fact completely overlooked by almost every commenter on this thread.
Oh, I didn't know that and that's a bit shit.
I know he's rich and all that, so can "pop" over to Portugal whenever but you want to see kids of that age so much because they grow up too fast.
I can completely understand him wanting to go back.

Its not that. It seems he wants to go back to Portugal. Going through a divorce and his kids are back in Portugal with their mother
Well doesn't that work out well for ENIC as they don't have to spend money on a quickly depreciating asset. How coincidental.

Yes, we clearly signed him knowing that his domestic situation at the end of the season would make it highly unlikely he would want to make his move permanent allowing the club to avoid a PR problem by not picking up his option after his goal saved us from relegation.
Fuck me, what evil genius came up with that plan?

Got to say the expenditure of comment towards Palhinha kind of explains why we finished 17th for the second season running.

The guy did his job. He played his heart out for the club which is the least expected of every player.

He would not have been on our bench a few years ago, although he probably could have been useful but I don't think we are finishing top 8 if Palhninha was a regular starter for us next season.

If we don't sign him I probably think that's a better sign than if we do, but only because it should suggest we don't envisage another relegation fight.

The gratitude and warmth to Palhnina doesn't change if we don't ever see him in a Spurs shirt again.

In fact like Son, obviously for very different reasons, it's a perfect way to depart.

Honestly. We think we can get better than him for a better price? More footballing lunacy from our inept leadership if true. The guy gave everything in an utterly horrible and depressing season. Has guts and quality. We’ll end up with some tiny dancer N’Loan signing who will be 10 times worse.

It worries me if it is anything other than JP totally set on a return for personal reasons. Really worries me tbh. Very ominous indeed for this window

They separated just after he moved to Bayern.

Try again.
