Transfers Summer 2026 Transfer Thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I really just cannot make heads or tails of what the strategy is for the squad.

Van Hecke is a good player in prime age, so it's not like he makes the squad worse, but spending that kind of money for a player you don't need has massive downstream consequences.

I think those occur with 6 months or less left on a player's contract, like with Eriksen.

Is it dependent on if its home/abroad? Im sure when its abroad you can do it sooner

(memory may be betraying me)

EDIT: Google says
Premier League pre-contract and free transfer rules stipulate that a player aged 23 or older can sign a binding pre-contract with a foreign club when they have six months or less remaining on their current deal. However, if the interested club is another English team, negotiations can only begin in the final month of the existing contract.

Johnson is worse than both of those. But they are also both basically shit.

Just an absolute clusterfuck in attacking squad building. I don't know why Lange still has a job.
Johnson got 11 PL goals the previous season. He rightly lost his place to Kudus but when he got injured he would have played much more & knows where the goal is & whilst I agree he was not up to scratch, I would have had him in the team over both Tel & Muani.

De Zerbi wants technical players. In Senesi and Van Hecke you have the two most progressive CB passers in the league. We are also getting Savinho who while divisive is a very technical winger and we are looking at a passer for deep midfield. It’s all going to be technical this summer I suspect.

RDZ needs ball playing CBs. We are all assuming Romero goes.
Danso is not a RDZ CB and it's too early to chuck Vuskovic into a starting role in the PL.

It makes sense.

I said not exaggerate the fact the Van Hecke is better than Romero. He's not. Romero is World Class, Van Hecke isn't.

He's not

World class plays at a proper level every week

World class leads, either by example or voice

World class doesnt have complete mental breaks while playing

Romero is capable of the odd world class performance, but as a player, as an ongoing prospect, he is no where near world class

But what are we doing with the three high-value CB's we already have? Are we selling all of them?

If we want to play VDV at LB, why are we signing Andy Robertson?

Romero and Dragusin are off I suspect. Vuskovic back on loan probably to a prem team this time and that leaves VH, VDV, Danso and Sensei.

If the club are ruthless I think they will sell Danso next summer and bring Vuskovic in. That would be 4 elite CB’s.

We aren't selling Vuskovic. It'll be loan at most so will you fuckers quit fucking crying before I come over there and post my shit through your letterboxes.

I think Tomo is right

Its getting in the right profiles for RDZs game, its about raising the techinical floor of the team, and its about balance IMO

As to "dont need" - I think its clear Romero and Dragusin are off, and as talented as Vuskovic is van Hecke is 100% prem ready to hit the ground running

The disappointing thing is that we probably need a starting No.9. But the market appears much stronger last season. Sesko, Gyokeres, Mbeumo among others.

What quality options could we look at this summer? Serious question as I haven't read much about strikers looking to move thus far.

That is not a strong market, Mbeumo isn't even a no 9.....Sesko shocking and Gyokeres underwhelming

If we are selling Romero and Dragusin then I think its a great signing. It was always going to be an outrageous gamble to punt on Vuskovic next season and Danso first choice would have been a downgrade on Romero.

Unless you propose keeping Romero, then I think the Van Hecke signing makes sense and it would have been negligent to sell Romero and just hope that Vuskovic/Danso can fill the void.

I’d imagine we have some sort of fee pre agreed for Romero and selling dragusin or something otherwise it makes very little sense. If it’s basically swapping the two then it’s fine a net zero combined with two free transfers then still hopefully plenty of money for more players and more outs to come I’m sure.

It's absolutely not and he's better than every player mentioned, but whatever.

We're on a path to sell him for half of his value to Bayern or Barca here.
It would have been a big gamble and after finishing 2 points above relegation, I don't think the club want to take that chance. Selling your club captain and replacing him with a 19 year old is a gamble. I don't care how good he looks and how high his potential is. Its a gamble. Van Hecke is a safe bet.
