FIFA revoked the 8% allocation for each Iran game that went to the Iranian FA. They would have been responsible for that ticket disbursement. Fuck knows how many they sold given the travel ban on Iranians coming to the U.S. — to my knowledge, only dual citizens and persecuted minorities are exempt. Having a valid ticket to the game or even a valid visa doesn’t ensure entry to the US.
The country is fast becoming a fascist state...

Dude, you have the most limited understanding of the U.S. of anyone on this site and at least we don’t imprison people for saying hurty words

You couldn’t drag me to a country I despise (say North Korea) unless it was for the funeral of immediate family — an event that typically isn’t preplanned months in advance. Yet you’re in the U.S., right?

BTW, I had a college friend who was denied entry and turned around at Heathrow despite having appropriate papers. It works that way all the world over.

I said becoming, not is...and it is...

I've noticed a trend where every world cup is attacked in the press. South Africa, Russia, Qatar and now the US.

The ticket prices are crazy. But there is so much negativity.
I don't know the full story behind the World Cup ticket controversy, but it feels like the same issue we see with every major event: third-party scalpers and resellers ruining it for actual fans. It’s trendy right now to blame the US or specific politicians( i know trump is bad but its not that any other politicians are really better they all lying scam) for the World Cup issues, but there is a much deeper systemic problem here. Whether it's Formula 1, massive concerts, the UFC, or WWE, the entire live event industry is broken when it comes to ticket pricing.

To be fair, none of those countries can really be considered “normal” — each has its own serious issues.

Ideally, we’d all prefer World Cups not to be hosted in controversial countries, but that isn’t realistic. For example, Saudi Arabia has already been selected to host in 2034, and it’s another nation that sparks debate.
Another idiotic decision. A 48 team tournament in a country with only 2 stadiums that hold over 40,000 fans.

Dude, after your bullshit about redistricting, I don’t take anything you say about the US seriously.
If you want to talk about rising fascism, fix your own continent first.

Clearly Donald Trump fucked someone close to you and left you traumatized.
I feel like a lot of politicians and media outlets just use Trump as a scapegoat to deflect from their own corruption and lies. This is especially true in European media, where they constantly talk about how terrible and fascist Trump is. But when you look at their own politicians, the hypocrisy is wild. For example, in Germany, the parliament just voted against getting rid of Section 188—a law that literally lets politicians criminally prosecute everyday citizens just for insulting or disagreeing with them. Weaponizing the police against citizens for criticizing elected officials sounds a lot more authoritarian than the things they accuse foreign leaders of doing

Ps: I don't know much about foreign politics because it's hard enough to keep up with all the political games and lying the Swiss politicians do

Guessing that FIFA provided the Iranian Federation the allocation before the latest war started, now they have the worst of all worlds.
It would have made more sense if the US had stuck with the idea of banning Iran from the tournament once the countries were at war.
It's like having Argentina play in the 1982 World Cup if it had been hosted in England. It would never have worked.

He’s an awful human being, an absolute shitbag but I hate it when he’s compared to Hitler by morons like Spaniel Spaniel . It only serves to normalize / trivialize Hitler, which might be this idiot’s goal.

Taken from someone else:
Within a year of coming to power, Hitler suspended civil liberties including freedom of speech and association. empowered himself to enact laws without parliamentary approval, abolished trade unions and banned all political opposition.

Then he went on to murder 13 million people or more.

Trump? Complete cockwomble but none of the above.

Yeah, a real logistical headache with a lot of really half-assed workarounds.

It's remarkable that the US can be on such a downhill slide over the last decade and still be freer than most other Western societies, in terms of the freedom of speech and other personal civil liberties.

Same here. I see Trump as no different than any other awful, lying politician.
But I also understand the people who feel like he is Hitler to them, because they may have been personally affected or hurt by things he has said or done.
Plus, with AI and TV today, it is even easier to lie to people about any issue.
That is why my default assumption is that every politician is a lying scumbag and they are all in the same club.
PS: I wouldn't call other Spurs supporters morons. I always try to find some common ground or compromise, because in the end, we all support the best football club in the world.

I think Trump is trying to head that way...the tariffs show that he wants global control imo..
However it is only my opinion and I don't expect other people to necessarily agree with it because it's subjective to me..
To borrow a phrase from the Ukrainians, we are very lucky that he's so fucking stupid. If he were this depraved and evil and were actually smart enough to get what he wants - if he were not so self-defeating with his lack of self control and general incompetence - the world would be in much more serious trouble then.

As it stands he's simply a lout and the sooner natural causes direct him shuffle it off, the better off the world will be.
