Also don't understand everyone thinking we're going to get any Southampton players. Fans seem to hate him for leaving, so I wonder if that translates to the players as well, and the chairman didn't thank him for his work or anything, their statement sounded quite brash. Wouldn't expect any deals to be done for that reason.

Fair point. I suppose, if Lallana and Shaw were prepared to leave Poch for Liverpool (Campions League) and United (United), it isn't wholly logical to assume they'd ditch both to follow the same man to Spurs (Europa League).

As it stands home:

-------------Kane------------
--Eriksen--Ade--Lamela--
---Paulinho------Sandro---
Vert---Vlad--Kaboul--Walk
------------Gomes-----------

away:

----------------Ade-------------
--Eriksen--Moose--Lamela--
----Paulinho------Sandro-----
Vert--Vlad--Kaboul--Walker
--------------Rose--------------

I think Dembele is wasted at DM. Away from home his passing, power and calming effect will make us hard to break down. I also think Paulinho is a risk as a DM but I think he should be next to Sandro to build up a long term partnership. With a better defensive look compared to previous 44 lineups I don't think he will be as exposed as the previous season.

Chadli, Capoue, Holtby, Bentaleb IMO are top notch backup for a lot of the positions above. Soldado could be a dark horse too. But I've seen nothing from him that shows he's up for the prem. Perhaps a glimpse of link up play with Eriksen and Ade but it leaves us soft as he does next to nothing off the ball.

Think that'd be exactly what i'd go for except Soldado over Ade (possibly likely due to language). Think he fits better as with high pressing and pinpoint through-balls I think he works better than Ade when he's at full potential.

I really dont. If you look at how Pochettino had Southampton playing Lambert was almost a classic lone striker, strong, holds up, plays people in, great aerial presence - Soldado just doesnt fit IMO.

Which is a shame because Im a big fan and would love him to succeed with us.

Didn't they use Jay Rodriguez as their striker for a large part of the season? That's the guy I was comparing to, although didn't realise Lambert had made as many appearances as he has. Potentially promising that he could utilise both our strikers at different times, if so (although there's a small voice at the back of my head telling my Rodriguez was a LM..?)

Ade in his first season with us had 11 prem assists. He spends a lot of time hovering around midfield and also spreads out to the wings. He has brought a lot out of the players around him since he returned, plus his goals are handy too. I think his power in the final third, along with his heads up play and ability to hold off a challenge will give Lamela and Eriksen so much space, the defenders won't know who to mark.

Kane showed so much ability on the ball, he's also linking up with people. On the last day of the season, Ade, Eriksen, Paulinho and Kane were unplayable.

Rose should be nowhere near a premiership defence.

Im pretty sure Rodriguez played off of the left more than as a central striker - am open to correction though.

--------Adebayor-----
Holtby Eriksen Lamela <--- intelligent interchaning front 3 who can unlock defences
-------Capoue-CM------ <---
Shaw--Vert-Chiries-Walker- <-- Pacy wingbacks to provide width

See the thing we need to learn from Woolwich at how they break teams that park the bus down, Perpetually threading through balls from central midfield and attacking mid.Outsmarting defences, Pochettino will have an opportunity to use the more creative players like this.

That is an extremely soft final third and Ade will get muscled out of it without someone else with power close to him. We kinda did that this season and Holtby and Lamela were ragdolled. We need more grit and power in between them. IMO that is absolutely vital to get rid of the soft Spurs tag. Too many powderpuff players and it allows the op to spoil and park the bus.

It will be entertaining, but the lack of spine will risk cricket scores and we will get slammed defending corners and free kicks. Ramos did the same thing with Bent, Bentley, GDS, Modric etc (Bentley just scored for fun with his previous club) and it was a disaster. On paper the attack was mouthwatering and they dominated possession but we still got fucked somehow.

We need to be more well rounded. And we need a spine.

Lamela and Holtby played in the 6-0 thrashing vs City along with Lennon and Soldado. We still had beasts on the pitch in Sandro and Dembele but it's just too much for them to cover off the ball. No more soft Spurs...It's been our curse.

Those of you putting Shaw in your side are dreaming. He's going to Chelsea.

---------------------Lloris----------------------
Walker---Chiriches---Vertonghen---Rose
-------------Sandro-----Dembele------------
Lamela-----------Eriksen-------------Chadli
-------------------Adebayor------------------

With signings I feel are achievable and needed.

------------------------Lloris------------------------
Walker---Chiriches---Vertonghen---Rodriguez
----------------Sandro----Dembele---------------
Lamela--------------Eriksen--------------Lallana
-----------------------Lukaku-----------------------

Bring in a very promising, young, but already 1st team level LB in Ricardo Rodriguez of Wolfsburg. Use the Soton link to grab Adam Lallana off Soton, to provide an intelligent and very fluid front 3 with Lamela and Eriksen. Lukaku we all know about.

Wouldn't get many more than 3 players as gelling the squad and getting them more familiar with one another is key. If Lukaku becomes too unattainable then Mattia Destro of Roma would be a nice option.

Like it although not sure I would want Dembele, doesn't pass the ball for about half an hour, Bentaleb is a much nicer passer, of course we are assuming that Paulinho is leaving, know he's been hit and miss this season but there is alot of talent in those feet.
