Roberto Soldado

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

He didn't cost us 26 mil though did he, it was about 13 mil.

And how was anyone supposed to know he'd flop? If he'd stuck away his chances like he was supposed to he'd be a hero, how was Baldini supposed to know he'd have a head fuck and lose all his finishing ability?

And people wonder why Spurs don't just go out and splash cash, Levy's a tight bastard and all that. No guarantees when you buy even well established players. Then everyone's a genius in hindsight, obviously he wouldn't fit the system, obviously he wouldn't suit the Premier League...

Sometimes in life, you just have to admit you've made a costly mistake and just put it right. Put Soldado out of his misery and ours, and just let him go. If we don't get anything for him, so be it, you just have to balance it with the fact that Harry/Ryan/Nabil/Kyle/Danny haven't cost us a bean in transfer money.

He's the striker you'd want in your side of we had have kept bale or played wingers who can get to the by line and fizz in a cross. We have either played him in a team without genuine width or have had the likes of Townsend and Lennon providing him service. Not a recipe for success. Blame should be shared by the player for failing to adapt and the club for buying a player who is incapable of fitting in with our style of play.

The ole' "Doesn't get service" argument. Not seen that in a while, needs dusting off I'd think.

How many sitters has he missed, when he has had service? 10? More?

The reality is, no matter what we do, no matter what formation we play, no matter what we tell him to do, no matter how loud you chant his name, the man is mentally broken. It was obvious last year and it's more so this year.

When you expect to fail, you'll fail. Soldado always expects to fail, and that's why he tried to pass to Chadli.

He is broken beyond repair, no doubt. But it could have been different had we built the team around his strengths when he still had enough belief in himself to prosper. We didn't and the player and the club should share the blame.

The reasons he has failed are many and varied. It's not down to one thing and certainly not a binary choice between service versus confidence. Not everyone is trying to have an argument with you. Not all points of view necessarily rebut the other. Chillax man :)

Sorry but I can't buy that if you're paying 26m for a striker he should be able to adapt we didn't build a team around Kane or berba or keane or Defoe strikers make their own success and I'm tired of hearing this excuse we shouldn't build a team around any one player

kyle walker wasn't free. him and naughton where bought at a combined price of almost 10 million if i remember correctly

Soldado isn't a shit footballer, he's a quality footballer playing shit.

Is Torres shit? No of course not, he was quality at Liverpool but lost all confidence at Chelsea. Doesn't mean he's suddenly a shit footballer, just out of form.

Is Suarez shit? 4 in 15 suggests so, but this time last year he was considered top 4 in the world. Is he now a shit footballer?

Fucking ridiculous argument. Soldado is class, but he's not doing it for Spurs and never will. We need to sell him, but that doesn't make him shit.
Torres: was good, now shit, therefore is shit.
Soldado: was good, now shit, therefore is shit.

Soldado is not going to happen here. Will be sold in the summer and hopefully find a new club where he can redeem himself. All the Soldado doubters were right, end of. They got this one right. I've always liked Soldado but mainly for other reasons than his playing (you don't say?) but that debacle against Fiorentina broke the camel's back for me. I just gave up.

Also, Torres has been far from shit in Atleti since he went back there
