The high line leaves a lot of space behind, and their wide players are very quick. We have to get more pressure on the players in the centre of midfield that are playing the through ball. Eriksen, Chadli and Townsend have to help out with that.
 
If someone had said to me a year ago that Rose would be our best defender now, I would have died laughing.

His progress has been as impressive as Kane's, I think.
 
Couldnt believe the first 30 mins, thought I was actually witnessing a comfortable spurs victory at the Lane.
The Skaghead they have upfront is terrorising Dier and Walker. One of them to go off for Vlad.
Andros is pretty anonymous, Chadli pretty terrible. Lamela for one of them, flip a coin
 
Each time they get the ball on the wings and wind up the cross, my heart skips a beat. It's like we have 2 mannequins in the centre of defence and the only hope is that the ball bounces off 1 of them harmlessly. On the attacking front, Chadli has been really poor.
 
How comes it's Walker that every team tends to target? Couldn't be because he's totally inept at defending is it?
 
Obviously our defense is shambles, but how much of that rests on our wingers? Walker is shit at the moment but he's totally exposed. If Rose weren't playing so well, it'd just be worse. Both Mason and Bentaleb have gotten a lot of shit for some of our defensive woes, but they are arguably far stronger than our wing play.
 
The problem is simple. When we lose the ball, we just don't do enough. There is a first wave of pressing from the forwards/midfielders, but if they get bypassed then it's just a straight run into our final 3rd and an easy pass or cross into a dangerous area. We either need that initial press to be way more savage and coordinated, or our forwards/MFrs need to realise if it's not worth pressing and instead get themselves back into defensive shape a lot faster. Right now it's very very easy for teams to counter against us, because firstly our passing isn't good enough so we WILL give them the ball quite often, and secondly we can't react fast enough to the counter.

We've had 70% but they have created 7 chances to our 5.

Thats whats been clouding peoples judgement in many a game regarding how we played. If the game ended now, Im sure people would think it was a comfortable win, because we knocked it around aimlessly more often then them.

Yet with 30% of the ball, they created more.
 
Kane, Rose and Eriksen have been stellar. Bentaleb is making a mark. The rest can all do better. We need a 3rd goal and we need it fast. I'd put Lamela on at HT but that won't happen - if he comes on it'll be during the last 10.
 
With the early sub, I can't see two instant subs at half time. Chadli offers MORE of a goal threat than Townsend so I'd like to see Lamela on first.
