Ex-Spurs Player Hugo Lloris

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Hytner's piece might not have quotes but he's what I'd describe as one of the better journos (like Burt from the Telegraph who had a direct line to AVB).
Maybe it's his agent. Anyway, is it a surprise? We stand to make around a £25m profit.

There will be some truth in it, maybe his agent that wanted to test how the reaction was?

I agree about that point, but I don't think it's for certain it's going to be sold this summer.

They perhaps doesn't think that he genuinely will be here until 2020, but signing that contract last season doesn't automatically means he will get sold in the summer.

Black/white mentality. NO grey areas..
Ok. We`ll see. However, If I happened to know you, I`d be willing to wager any amount you want that He`ll be sold this summer. I guess time will tell.

Unless there aren't any takers as a lot are speculating. It sounds mental.

I think Lloris is a class act and I'm proud he's our goalie. I'd hate to see him leave but in this day and age I'd kind of understand if he were to move to a CL club.

Name - Extended contract - Sold
Keane - 2007 - 2008.
Modric - 2010 - 2012(Was supposedly promised to be sold in 2011)
Bale - 2012 - 2013
Lloris - 2014 - ?

Do note we didn't sell any big name players last summer. But then we only have Lloris and Vertonghen who are likely to worth abit more than the rest.

Certainly, we'll see. I think it's more of a 50/50 call, maybe even 60/40 towards him staying, but as you say - we'll know soon enough.
Levy`s record of handling our players who`s transfer value point towards a healthy profit suggests more like a 99.99/0.01 call in favour of him leaving. Even at the cost of weakening the team. But as I say, we`ll see. And believe it or not I 100% hope your right.

There will be. Hytner is The Guardian's Spurs man, he has to have sources. He's a decent journalist.

Agree about that, but a deal is most likely far off still. Firstly, I think Spurs are reluctant to sell. Secondly, there are only a few clubs that have the money to buy him and of those he probably wouldn't want to go to all of them. Thirdly, we don't want to sell to a fair of those clubs.

Have there been no other contract extensions then?

In any case this always makes sense, whether you are selling a player or not! Or do you want us to end up in a Bosman scenario like we did with Campbell? With the contract extensions it doesn't always mean that the player will stay. However, it does mean that if the player is worth a lot to us, it's easier to get a higher fee if he's on a long contract.

It was a rhetoric question. We have extended deals for key players ever since ENIC came to the club. Some of them were sold on, but we didn't mind as fans, because they were no longer that important to the team. However, it made sure that we would get a higher fee than what we normally would and players running down their contracts doesn't happen at Spurs anymore - unless they are Bongani Khumalo.

I'm just listing the transfers of our key players in recent years. I don't think you really care about Paulinho extending his contract now and then sold this summer, right?

He didn't I'm sure, but quite sure Harry Kane and Nabil Bentaleb (as examples) will be given new contracts on a frequent basis, just like Danny Rose and Kyle Walker for instance before them.

For the record all 4 of these players have signed contracts - long term. Are we selling them all?
