Agree with all of this, but a pretty trusthworthy (in my view) ITK source said we had an offer on the table for Schneiderlin, if the United deal didn't work then we had a shot. And also that Soton (the club itself) really do dislike us, and have since the Hoddle thing. But business is business.

I can believe that. If you were Southampton you'd be calling everybody out for a bidding war and the press have been labelling him at £25m but, I get the feeling they've probably not had a bid over £18-20m yet and still trying to up the ante.

Who: Trix
Where: COYS
When: 10/7/2015

In response to - 'Are there any strikes on our radar or do we have to sell first?':

Trix : Yes and No...... "NO"

"May have to sell Adey first"...

:vertna:

It's a bit of strange one, because you'd in most cases want to get rid first, to avoid other clubs offering less because it's too obvious that you're desperate to sell. But everybody and his dog knows, we want him out, so cannot see it affecting the price here.

If reports, that Poch wants him nowhere near the first team, are true, then let's bloody sign someone up and deal with Ade later....

I think they're between a rock and a hard place. United are interested, but don't NEED him, so can underbid since Schneiderlin's said he wants to go to a Champion's League club. We might be offering something that Soton feels is more fair, but don't meet his criteria. And we've utterly pillaged them recently.

I can imagine they're winding up with a bit of a complex when it comes to dealing with us.

If they don't get rid of Ade they can tie him up and leave him in the karze!

A little off-topic, but I just wana say that ...
I think next season is gonna be really fun watching the PL in general.

I'm starting to love how all that TV money is making the PL a whole lot more competitive. A lot more mid-table teams are now able to make pretty decent signings. It's gonna be interesting.

Give me some fecken rumours!!!
OK. There are a couple throw-away lines at the end of a stories today, but not sure why we are still linked to defenders.
Express : Pochettino is also thought to be weighing up an offer for former Manchester City flop Stefan Savic.
and
Express : Tottenham target Kostas Manolas has been linked to the club, with the centre-half expected to leave Roma if the price is right.

Yep agreed. Newcastle, the team that treats their players like shit, are about to make a few decent signings. Mitrovic, Nkoulou, and Wijnaldum are all big upgrades for that club.

For me the question is whether the money is spent well. If you're just chucking money at names who are cashing in, you could wind up in expensive trouble if your rivals are building with a solid plan in mind.

QPR got relegated with literally double the money PSG got for winning Ligue 1. By the time every team gets Soton-smart, you could wind up with a permanent pool of 17 unrelegate-able clubs, with at least 12 of them CL-quality.

Or, you wind up with a ton of douche-bags taking the money and riding off into the sunset, much as now. It's all the same really.
