It staggers me that there could be any disagreement with this but we do seem to have a lot of people thinking Kane is typical of promoting youth so it should now be done en-masse rather than trying to buy quality as well.

Oh yeah I forgot, we spent badly with big fees so we should never spend again!
We spent big once becuase we sold a player for £90 odd million. Who do say we should sell to do this again? If we need five players then we ain't getting 5 £15-20m ones.
If you ever think that we will lay out over £100m in one window without doing so, then you ain't got a clue.
I can guarantee that it's not that we don't want to spend big again, it's because we can't.
The clubs spend with the most spend large amounts as the window opens. Just like when we had big money coming in when we spent big and early.
We will have to wait till near the end because that's how the window works. It's a knock on effect.
Just like when we had big money coming in when we spent big and got it done early, bar the Lamela/Willian stuff.
I can guarantee you this, if we wanted Austin he would have come.

Withe Dembele linked away, and on the evidence from last season he may well be, I feel we are getting lighter and lighter in the middle. McCarthy seems to be a genuine target but theyve said he´s not for sale.

Even if we sign him, does he really compensate for Paulinho, Stambouli, Capoue and Dembele put together?!

The thought of Mason starting every game is a worrying one.
I think we're ok when it comes to the number of central midfielders we have, but an upgrade on Mason is key. Would be happy with Bentaleb/Mason/Dembele/New CM and Alli as a challenger for the first team squad. We need one more signing if Dembele goes though.

We're soon getting to that point in the summer where any new signings won't be ready for the start of the season. Disappointing, but hardly a surprise. Would love to have a new CM (and new RW/ST) fit and ready for the United game, but that looks increasingly unlikely. Possible team vs United:
[formation=4231, Lloris, Trippier, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose, Mason, Bentaleb, Lamela, Eriksen, Chadli, Kane][/formation]
Looks weak up against Schweinsteiger, Schneiderlin, Carrick, Fellaini, Herrera, Rooney etc..
fellaini suspended! woop woop.
bentaleb man marked him out the game in the 2nd half. so we could have done that ploy again if he was playing.

I like how Eriksen is back up for himself. How will that pan out if he´s injured?

....Oh, have I mentioned that I dont rate Lamela and that I dont think Poch will use Dembele much, and that I think Chadli needs competition?

I havent written off Lennon, but our manager has.

Oops, sorry, I must have forgot to mention it. I dont rate Lamela and Townsend.
Funny thing is that last season Moussa wasn't out with injuries like he usually has. Maybe there is more to why MP hasn't picked him. I know he cannot last 90 mins flat out and he's injury prone.
Maybe he was used rather well by MP considering he was available all of last season and before he was a constant on the injury table.
Fitness is key to performance.

Wow, if Dembele also gets sold, expect something big from Levy. We have effectively raised/will raise 30-35 million pounds by selling all the midfielders who were basically nowhere near the first team last season. I hope it is someone bigger than McCarthy! Have nothing against him, but with 30-35 million made from sales, we should go all out for a Moutinho + Bender/Kramer combo or atleast something similar with 2 really good players replacing 5-6 average players.

why dont we just promote our whole youth team.
i mean look how good kane is.
surely this means they all will be as good as him.

Yeah, it would be crazy to use some young players as back-up to the first team. It's not like we just signed the players voted the best players in the Championship and League 1, or that our most consistent outfield players last season were Kane, Bentaleb and Rose. Clearly stupid people

Have not quite understood the fascination with Berahino from Spurs fans. Attitude/drinking problems, has the usual hype due to being English and has effectively been good for a few random spots while being mediocre for several games.

Reminds me a lot of Darren Bent to be honest in terms of a player doing well in a smaller team which plays to his strengths! Is he honestly a bigger prospect than Townsend?

well i never said we shouldnt use youngsters as back up so i dont know why u are getting moody with me.

So ... Paulo, Capoue, Holtby, Benji, Dembele : Out
And ... Suarez, McCarthy (and Alli) : In

Not too bad, but would be nice if we can replace one of them with Kramer or someone with a little bit more oomph.
