Have not quite understood the fascination with Berahino from Spurs fans. Attitude/drinking problems, has the usual hype due to being English and has effectively been good for a few random spots while being mediocre for several games.

Reminds me a lot of Darren Bent to be honest in terms of a player doing well in a smaller team which plays to his strengths! Is he honestly a bigger prospect than Townsend?
20 goals in 45 games last season. How many did Andros get?

Its an observation, hardly slagging him off.

Ok lets see, Vorm, Yedlin, Davies, Dier, Fazio, Stambouli. Six signings, silly me.
All those outfield players could have been used more.

He also did have a full squad which he chose not use to maximum effect.

I think some players were treated unfairly. How is that twisting facts and slagging off Poch again..?
You make it out to be, as if Poch has had 7 first team signings. You included Alli even though he was out on loan, come on

Attitude/drinking problems
Where is your source for this? All I recall is one drink driving issue. Alright, not angelic and a big mistake to make. But it's a one-time event. I also have to question how much this really impacts on his ability to kick a ball. VDV was a wife beater, yet we all love him and thought he was amazing.

I don't think that's true. The media barely talk about him. How many England games have you seen him start recently? How many times has he been front-page news? On a scale of Kane, Sterling or Rooney? I don't think so, mate.

First point, that sums up every player, bar two.

Second point, the lad is 21. You expect him to be consistent that young? He's had 2 seasons in the premier league. Two seasons. You don't have a big enough sample size to judge him on.

West Brom have had 2-3 different managers while he's been there and he's done well under all of them. I don't think Pulis plays to his strengths or the team has ever been built around a 19 year old boy.
Is he honestly a bigger prospect than Townsend?
Can't believe someone even said that, but I'll just give you the numbers.

Townsend - 24 years old
Berahino - 21 years old

2014-2015
Townsend - 35 games, 6 goals, 7 assists.
Berahino - 45 games, 20 goals, 6 assists.

2013-2014

Townsend - 35 games, 3 goals, 8 assists.
Berahino - 36 games, 11 goals, 2 assists.

He's miles above Townsend. They're in different leagues. Berahino is a step below Kane in terms of potential and quality, but not too far off. Sorry if I went a bit OTT, just strongly disagree with some things you said.

Withe Dembele linked away, and on the evidence from last season he may well be, I feel we are getting lighter and lighter in the middle. McCarthy seems to be a genuine target but theyve said he´s not for sale.

Even if we sign him, does he really compensate for Paulinho, Stambouli, Capoue and Dembele put together?!

The thought of Mason starting every game is a worrying one.
Doesn't worry me, it seems that Pochettino wants mobile players(look at Schneiderlin). We can't field 4 midfielders at once, McCarthy shares a lot of their qualities.

20 goals is impressive, but 4 of those came against Gateshead in a 7-0 thrashing. Again, Bent also had an incredible season for Charlton before we signed him. Not saying Berahino will fail just like Bent.

If Poch can get him to perform to his potential and he has been scouted enough to be seen as a good fit for the tactics that Poch wants his team to play, fair enough, but ultimately we will be paying an extortionate amount of money due to the English factor and the fans just need to be a bit more level headed in terms of his expected impact if he signs for Spurs.

Because let us be honest, he has been overhyped like any English youngster breaking through. Townsend was supposed to replace Bale remember? And I am sure many Spurs fans believed it when the press was spouting that nonsense after he was performing well for a few weeks in AVB's last season.

Berahino is a talented kid, but there is always a risk when we sign players who do well in teams which are considerably less talented than our team because the entire setup of the team changes. Berahino will not be the centre of playing style and like countless others before (Llalana, Downing at Liverpool, Berbatov at United etc) he will not find it easy at Spurs. Having said that, if we sign him after selling Soldado and Ade, I would be delighted. Love seeing young talented English players playing for Spurs!

Berahino is an exceptional gifted young player, if it was decided we could deal with his personality if there are any issues, I have no idea then go for it.

He is proven prem, young and we lack a player like him. Swap him for Townsend.

I would be delighted to sign Berahino for Spurs, but don't think he is that good that we should all be really excited. And not really meant to compare him to Townsend in terms of statistics as they are playing in different positions/teams but I am fairly certain that if Townsend plays for a team like West Brom he will stand out just like Berahino. Do you remember how excited Spurs fans were when Townsend skinned Monreal when playing for QPR and everybody was thinking he is the one to replace Bale at Spurs when he had that good spell in AVB's final season. The press were running story after story about how good he is and how he had grafted his way through loan after loan till he got his chance. It didn't take long did it for Spurs fans to write him off as another failure who is not good enough for Spurs. Berahino is exactly the same in terms of that. He has a lot of potential but we have seen this several times before where a player struggles to step up when he moves to a bigger team. There has been hints of unprofessional acts from Berahino at WBA and I hope he has grown out of those for his own good. If we sign him, we will need to be patient with him.

Pedro, 27, not getting game time at Barca. £22m release clause and United are in for him now.
Isn't this the kind of player we'd be in for 2-3 years ago? Yes we are building a new stadium and yes his wages would be big. But we got round wages with Bale?
But now we've blown £100m on a load of shit I suppose Victor Moses is realistic.

cheers for the info. i think he is bitter & jealous of portos success.
i have always hated the blinding red that benfica wear.
always prefered porto. shame u lost jackson. such a good player!
he also said Maxi Pereira is now scum.
ps. both man city & juve our sniffing around your left back sandro!
Jackson was so good :// But i have faith in whatever striker we buy. Maxi, after 8 years there told them to fuck off and joined us :gio:
Wikipedia disagrees :townhmm:

Says it was a lone and he's been at Porto since he was 16-17
Wikipedia is wrong :defoe: He was a Paços player, not on loan.
You've just gotta love Sunderland. Every few years or so they clear out our average players. With cash too!
Dembele is not average :llorisserious:

Heard it was more of a loan where Pacos owned 50% of him and so did Porto with Porto having a buy back clause (as he was theirs originally). A bit like how Italian clubs have a co-own. I don't think it was a natural sale and buy back by any means.

So for me, him leaving Porto could still happen despite the buy back. He looked to have flourished at Pacos so Porto, the money smelling club that they are, bought him back 100% and sell him on for money, preferably to Spurs.
