Berahino's record isn't "decent" It's mediocre. I think he'd be a good back-up signing, but he's not likely to be a break-out superstar. Batshuayi on the other hand is very raw, but has the potential to be much bigger.

One way to settle it:

For me they look very similar in their style of play. Difference is though, Berahino´s video was in the PL, and Batshuayi´s was in Ligue 1.

Plus Berahino and Kane have played together before.

So on that basis, Berahino for me. Not sure what makes you say Batshuayi has more potential.

The thing is though, Batshuayi have played under similiar circumstances under Bielsa. While Berahino have played under Pulis.

9 in 920 minutes vs 10 in 3000 minutes, or, if you want to equalize for minutes, Batshuayi scored at 300% of the rate of Berahino. Even allowing for a 50% reduction next year, that would still mean 13-14 goals vs. 10.

None of that is guaranteed, but when a 19-year old starts scoring at that kind of rate in a top-5 league, it's worth noting. Especially because the financial situation of Ligue 1 clubs means that unlike our attempts at getting Depay, OM can't hold out for more money to anywhere near the same extent.

ROBBO!!

When we used to sing his name, he loved us, we loved him

I honestly don't feel he is a safe bet. I like what I've seen, but he's not a standout. 10 goals in 3000 minutes from a striker is mediocre. Nacer Chadli delivered that playing left wing and shooting less. Why not just buy another left wing and make Nacer play striker instead? (This actually may be what we are doing)

The reason no one's gotten Lacazette yet is because the player hasn't shown a big desire to move, and the club are asking for over 40 million, which is stupid money.

After his numbers come down to earth next year he'll likely move for half that.
He would be adequate back up to Kane, would offer us something different up top, and he could definitely link up with Kane should we decide to play 2 up top. He will already have a relationship with a number of our players from England as well, which has to be considered. We can expect him to hit the ground running and provide instant competition for places. I don't think we could have this expectation with Batshuayi.

We can look at minutes, opponents etc etc all day, but the long and short of it is he scored 20 goals last season and a number of assists (6 or 7 I recall?)

Rather worryingly, Batshuayi didn't even get 1 assist last season, playing from any one of the three positions behind the striker. I would suggest that screams of inexperience and/or extreme selfishness.

In today's market, it's no coincidence no one has approached Lacazette. There are a number of teams with the money to pry him away (City and United are just two that need a striker). I genuinely believe teams from the bigger leagues are wary of purchasing from places like Ligue 1 and Serie A. But lets be honest, that could be total bollocks!

To flip this, if you don't want Berahino, assuming Bobby and Ade move on, who would you like to see come in to compete with Kane?

There's the key for me. That is such an important factor. There was an outcry when the Bale signings failed that all we'd done is sign unproven lads from abroad. Now we're trying to do business at home and it's still not good enough.

In Ligue 1. Football games are not determined by stats.

Berahino is 21 and has done it in arguably the most competative league in the world. Probably many view it as number one.
So, again, the fact Batshuyai has done it in the 5th best league doesnt propel him to be my first choice, nor does it mean he has greater potential.
