Roberto Soldado

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

His influence was negative on the young players around him. Eriksen, Holtby, Townsend and Lamela had major confidence crisis with him up front to aim for. Are you SURE you want to risk their development with Soldado? Are you sure you want to risk the potential Alli has? It could really mess up other players like Bentaleb, Dembele and Mason if they keep putting through balls for someone who is either not there, is muscled off or chokes?

IMO he is a liability and it's best for HIM to leave. He's miserable in this league.

Merely an update on our official squad numbers. No Lennon, no Ade but Soldado has number 9!

Personally I think our striker situation is a disgrace if Ade and Soldado are going. We'd need two more, we'll struggle to get one so either we're going to be left with Soldado as 3rd choice at least or, going to have just two.

I'd prefer to get his wages off the book and go with Chadli and Kane until January and try to get someone in rather than have him a day longer at the club. Although, ideally, get someone in now

Madness - the Kane and Chadli bit. That means you need goals from somewhere else as well because Chadli provided double figures and Kane 30+. When Chadli is playing up top instead of Kane we need him to more than double his goal ratio AND then another scorer to provide Chadli's numbers from midfield just to stand still vs last season.

Eriksen did double figures too so won't be him unless he's going to double his goals up to 25+.

Lamela? Wouldn't count on him, how can we bank on it after the past 2yrs?

Awful planning for half a season.

Yeah, much better to rely on HOTSHOT Bobby for the goals
:pochfacepalm:

Hes blatantly going, but i still think he could have a role to play BEHIND kane in the right games if Eriksen isnt available or playing inside left. Still got good footwork and an eye for a pass, but as someone to lead the line in a 451 he's not the guy.

I've never been desperate to get rid of Bob. Sure he can't seem to score for shit but I've always thought at least he's a talented footballer who does try hard.

If we get one other in who can genuinely compete then I'd happily keep him around. Who knows, without the pressure he might rediscover a bit of scoring touch. (Very optimistic I know!)

As a number 10 yes, id agree. Lamela more than Chadli certainly. None of then can lead a line though

I think Chadli can. He's built for it better than a prem winger IMO where he can go missing. Poch said both can play as strikers. And I would use both as strikers before Soldado because even when Lamela is having a bad game, he at least runs players ragged and has battles. Soldado can give the back line a very comfortable predictable ride.

I think Lamela in a free role is more beneficial for us and him long term. So it does not have to be an out and out striker unless Kane is out. Then I would turn to Chadli. I would not use Lamela as a winger or a midfielder anyway. He needs midfielders behind him.

Only wanting him gone if we can get a body to replace him is a fair take, IMO. At least he can make some things happen playing in behind Kane late on if we need a goal.

Every match I remember last season when he came on when we were chasing a game we looked markedly worse after he came on. He would just get in Kane's way and the few chances you would want to fall to Kane fell to Bobby asshat who of course fluffed them.

In theory I can see what you are saying
But Kane always seemed the one to drop deeper when played with bobby

At the cost of who? Who do you drop or hamper for Soldado?

Dele Alli is the attacker in our current lineup that would be brought on to try and score. It could be his seat that Soldado would take up because poch wont drop Lamela from the bench. Which kid do you want ousted? Prichard? Which attacking option do you want to lose priceless prem experience to Soldado? Keep in mind he could have the same dry run making the kids look worse than they are if they play together.

No, I'm not saying rely on him, I said the Kane and Chadli bit was madness and explained why - please read.

You explained that Chadli would need more goals: He's never played a season as a forward so you can't judge him from a goals aspect. One thing I do know is he creates a lot of goals himself. Which is priceless with the buildup we had last year. If he has proper service on top of his ability he will be great backup IMO. Probably as much of a gamble as the average 15 million striker.

I'm convinced Lev is addicted to the gambling. He probably gets the sweats on the last few days of the window. Power, money, his reputation etc. This is his favorite time of year.
And he is the bloke running the club: So if in consultation with Poch they make a run at some players and there are delays so be it: If the club wants to hand Soldado the number 9 shirt so be it; They obviously must know what they want and what is within the clubs limits. We are fans who agree to disagree at times but we choose to continue supporting the club.Get behind the guy if he is to continue playing at the club : vilify the bastard who is holding a gun to our heads and just sitting around smoking his hooker all-day!
(apart from having a free health check done at Villa)
