1 vs 1 situation, its pretty much russian roulette when a defender is in that situation. I have watched the replay several times and it's hard to say what the 'right' decision at that moment was, vertonghen could have easily conceded a penalty.

I have no doubt you're probably right. I just feel like we always find ourselves in a position where he's in that situation trying to fend off an attacker by himself and it ends poorly. Maybe that says something about the midfield or the other defenders? I couldn't tell you.

Vertonghen has been shit for ages. Other clubs have noticed this - who wants him now? He can't make a decision so he backs off, and off and off and.. oh fuck. Massively overrated.

Quite possibly. But maybe not. My point being is that it's not like the sides projected above us in the table (outside City) have set the world alight yet either.

It seems people feel safe using the logic (albeit a potentially unfounded one) that the big 5 will suddenly switch on once they click as a side, but it'd be impossible for Spurs to do the same...

All I'm saying is it's still early.. No need to melt
why is it melting to say we wont get close top 4.
its logical & realistic.

Indeed. Wimmer looked solid during preseason so I haven't got a clue why he hasn't been given an opportunity in the league yet. Alderweireld and Wimmer should start next week. Vertonghen probably thinks he's untouchable.

On the LC goal , yes JV allowed Mahrez to create the shooting Oppty to the left, but he was completely isolated. Mason was taking a jog back vs running his arse off to assist JV and close off that left side shooting lane. Mason shares some responsibility for sure

For all negatives there's a few bright things:
I love Kane. Gives his all, every time, all game. Alli scored and fought well. Dembele played well.

That's it.

Also Ben Davies can't defend.
Dembele mislaid passes. He should be the one who drives us forward, he falls short . Ben Davis is a very good player and will feature . I agree with Kane although he has a massive expectation on his sholuders which I hope he can bare.

Long time podcast listener and lurked for a while here lads I'll be honest, first time poster though I couldn't resist now work has calmed down and I have time to rant about our club!

Like most of you I've realised we are going to be playing major catch up the last cupla years-manager after manager, star player lost after star player. Last season though I felt I was getting the affinity I was starting to lose with the club after the bale sale and subsequent transfer disaster and constant changes and started feeling like we were getting our identity back-I think its brilliant seeing young academy players getting their chance and a youth recruitment policy but i really think we are at least three experienced heads short to even be close to getting 5th again.
Realistically with the stadium coming etc we will be a top 8 side for a few years now, the chance to get stability and maintain a proper push every season for top four was lost when we didn't invest properly the first year we came fourth imho.It was fucked then when Liverpool and Woolwich were so weak. Utd were weak last season and Chelsea the season before-our chance is gone for a while I feel.

Questions about our squad for me are-where the fuck are the wingers? We are so so narrow in every game and I'm sorry but Chadli Townsend and Lamela are simply not good enough.
With Poch I thought there was a specific plan and til he gets his squad he wants fair enough he can't maybe do what he wants to the team but fuck me we have become so predictable and shit to watch.

Feel so sorry for Kane esp today-he barely touched the ball first hour.
Decent clear out of people we dont ever wanna see again like Paulinho and Chiriches this summer but again even IF we get Berahinho and Wanyama or whoever in DM we are a month and probably 6-10 points off where we should be.

I hate the term but its all a bit 'spursy' atm again:-/

The guy can't tackle. If you were a striker running at Vertonghen, you wouldn't worry about him tackling you so you just keep going. He's soft.

People see what they want to want to see. Kaboul has been proven to be dog shit. I said he on,y ever had one good season here. Dropped after 2 games at Sunderland. But you can't knock any player who wears the shirt around here.

For the future. Bentaleb is just about ordinary. Eriksen average. Decent dead ball kicker is all. He is not our salvation. Far from it. Chadli. Lazy and I still don't know his position. Neither does he or the opposition and that's why he pops up every now again and scores. Not good enough. Carroll. Will never make it in the prem at a top club. Mason. Can't see it. he is only better than Wilshere at not getting injured. Toby. Too early to say tbf but it's hardly a running start. Jan as been said is very poor. Dawson was better. Dembele. Would rather Huddleston or Livermore at the time. I say rather.mi just mean I can't see a difference. Lamela. He looks a gold plated flop. Baldini did a proper number there. Hope he enjoys his millions.

This isn't a melt no matter how it seems after 3 games. This isn't about 3 games. We have been on ever decreasing circles from 5 years now, our club isn't about glory. It about turning a profit.

Today was the first time I actively chose not to watch us when I could for probably the first time in 8 years because I just knew the insipid shit that would be served up.

Disapointed as it was. At least we stepped it up in the second half and looked half decent.its early days in the season, a spark will come from somewhere and then watch us improve.
