As a striker, I think yes. As an all-around player? I think probably not. Kane does so much defensively, and also has a lot of potential as a playmaker that brings a lot more to the table.

It was exactly the kind of nonsense that a lot of people on here were demanding Spurs do, last summer and in January.Benteke has never scored more than 20 league goals in a season, not even in Belgium. Kane did in his first full season at Tottenham.
Not only is Kane's allround game miles better but he's also a better goalscorer. Benteke is only superior in one department, and that's in the air.
It would be a ridicilous signing and exactly the type of nonsense we'd do pre-Pochettino.

Would link up well with Kane too, imagine being 1-0 up then bring on Berahino to play in the 3 behind Kane, hope its true, and he's British.
Haven't we sent scouts to watch Rennes this season?
Ousmane Dembele scored a hattrick tonight for them in a 4-1 win. He is only 18 and has 9 goals in 17 games this season.
I don't remember anybody wanting us to sign Benteke from Liverpool after 6 months, but I wouldn't be surprised. I don't see a problem with wanting a striker but said striker needs to check a lot of boxes that Benteke doesn't. Primarily 1) willing to sit on the bench and deputise for Kane, 2) fits the pressing system and 3) doesn't have an ego that will upset the squad.
Every CL-contender and aspirant in Europe has watched him multiple times this year. Definitely the "next big thing" of this year.Haven't we sent scouts to watch Rennes this season?

I think one striker and one strong, mobile CM are the two things we'll need this summer. Possibly we'll go looking for another AM if we sell one of the current guys.Be interesting to see what happens with the Berahino and Dembele transfers as it seems inevitable that we'll be playing a Champions League next season.
Also, what the other teams will do. If Pep goes to City and decides to have a clear out then I wouldn't mind a punt on Iheanacho. He has bags of potential, but all depends on what Pep wants.
Striker is imperative though.. One that will do a job from the bench and starting.
A new CM would also be a bonus but as long as we get a striker then I'm happy.
