Those quick interviews always piss me off a slight bit. About three questions long with a 5 second response.
Would it kill you to shoot the shit for just a minute? (granted, he can't speak English, but still...)
The one question that I'd like to hear is "Erik, you've been here for just a couple of days now, and I'm sure you're still getting your bearings, but in your time meeting the rest of the squad, is there any player in particular that you've struck up a friendship with, or is there any player in particular that you're looking forward to working with and learning from?"
Of course, it's a moot question, because I think 9 times out of 10 the answer for the first question at least would be "Sandro."
He's got a lot of work ahead of him, learning English. Sure that he's already started lessons and all that, but I think that there's a hidden positive in that -- because of the language -- he'll likely gravitate the most at first towards Soldado. Would be great if they strike up an understanding very quickly, it would no doubt help both of them tremendously, both in their on-pitch performances, and in bedding in to the squad.
Also, in this instance I think that AVB's continental profile and linguistic skills help enormously in drawing players like Lamela. I shudder to think of Harry Redknapp trying to communicate with an Argentinian that barely speaks a word of English.
"Just fackin' jabber on a bit!" :harrylick:
