Yes he worked harder than people think he could tackle and get stuck in and his natural ability would raise his level , in a boring world of safe sideways passing and not taking anyone on Glen would be a breath of fresh air

Hoddle was the best player I have seen in a Spurs shirt. Totally unique and would bring out the best in everyone- even today’s shower

I like this question that the OP has come up with. Has filled some brain time in the lockdown. Based on the last decade, I reckon there’s only two players in our current squad that I’d want to keep in. Below is my decade XI - assuming all at their prime obvs. The King and Dawson partnership at its peak was a thing of beauty and, combined, had more heart than a Spanish butcher

Lloris
Walker
King
Dawson
Assou-Ekotto
Parker
Dembele
Modric
Lennon
Bale
Kane

In summary, our squad right now looks like possibly the poorest, weakest and least entertaining since well before Harry, and probably well before Jol.

Sorry, but as much as I love Lennon, and we is one of my fave Spurs players.. there is absolutely no way he gets in ahead of Son. Also.. left back is also questionable.. Rose when at his best would get in IMO.

Also not really sure how Dawson manages to get in over Vertonghen or Alderweireld.

FFS Eli , I wanted to post my 2 & you ended the thread . How come you have the power to do this ? It’s so unfair

Agree with you in a 1:1 comparison. But, for me, if you had Bale and Kane in the side then there is no room for Son. Bale, Lennon and Modric at their best were outstanding and pacy and simply difficult to handle. Back them up with a solid midfield and allow Kane to feed off everything that they create. Would be entertaining at least.

???

Son / Kane / Bale = Is a perfect front 3. Both Son & Bale inverting off of their strongest foot and full of pace whilst Harry bosses things through the middle.

Yes, of course they would be outstanding to watch. Remembering that this is little more than hypothetical and nostalgic at best, I still loved the counter attacking football we played with Modric, Bale and Lennon to a point that I’d love to see it with a Dembele to strengthen and a Kane up front. With Parker tidying up behind of course. And yes I know that Daws was not our best modern times CB but he has a heart and drive that we are desperately lacking. Him and Ledley in the dressing room should turn the dial in the right direction.
