He's angling for a transfer - duh
So what was he angling for the last 5 years when he's done nothing of note for that period?

Why has he spent years floundering at Villa, Middlesborough and now Wolves? Why have Europe's top clubs shown fuck all interest in him?

Could it be they know he's a just a shit pace-merchant with fuck all end-product and very little footballing ability.

Bottom line is - he will improve us and is within our budget

No brainer for me

Maybe the problem is that he wasnt developed for an actual position. I always see him leading a counter attack from anywhere in his own half. Thats not what he should be doing if he cant find the final pass.

If we actually sign him, he is only going to play at RWB and nothing else. He has got the speed to beat his marker, but of course there will be situations where his touch is shit and he will lose the ball. Or put a shit cross in. And he still is better suited than every other wing back we have. He seems to wait on the ball too long if he gets into good positions, just needs to turn that off.

Conte did the same with Victor Moses and D'Ambrosio. Technically very limited footballers, but they were reliable if it came to covering the right flank and crossing from time to time.

Not really. I think you are moving puzzle pieces around to suit your thinking. Regardless of "who replaced who" technically, none of the players that have been part of our recruitment process are better than the players that preceded them.

And since you are being pedantic, Davies was our Rose back up that became first choice when Rose left. He's still there, in a different role. Reggie was signed as first choice left back. He's not better than prime Rose.

Aurier was signed as a first choice right back. He's not better than prime Walker. Royal despite his energy has not shown to be better than Aurier yet, despite being better defensively.

Romero has shown none of his Serie A form and is way short of prime Toby. You omitted a Jan replacement.

Sanchez was signed for competition in the team and despite arguably being our best CB in recent weeks was way short of value.

On no planet was Ndombele signed to be Sissoko's replacement. Especially when Sissoko was still here and playing more games. He only left last window.

Lo Celso was signed to replace Eriksen. He has not.

Hoijberg was signed as a DM. Winks was playing there, you are right. But that's because we never replaced the Dembele/Wanyama axis.

So again. Everyone we have signed for the first team has not improved anyone that was already here. Save maybe Lucas.

I think you have your understanding of what constitutes a competent first team player mixed up. We have not replaced those players adequately, however you want to dress it up.

The, comment I was replying to implied that we only sign backups and don't sign to replace our starting 11.

Clearly we have, but the quality of those players is of course debatable.

If Wolves really only want £20m then we would be foolish to not take advantage. We could even throw in Doherty for free as a sign of good will.

Run half the length of the pitch and beating dozens of players and score...,? No one does that more than and odd few times in their career even Messi don't do that anymore.
Not sure it was dozens of players. It was 2 v Chelsea and if you look closely he only actually took it past 2 or 3 Burnley players. Both great goals but one from 2018 and 2019 so not like last week. He needs to open his legs a bit more regularly but seems a bit down on confidence
