Player Alejo Veliz

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

That was a very good goal and I'm very happy for him. This guy has a lot of potential, the injury and the bad loan last season weren't that kind to him but I hope he's on the right patch right now, starting every game as the main striker for Espanyol.

We're talking about last season.
:mourbye:
not a fan of Scarlett either tbh, not sure what Mourinho saw in him when he was spouting off about him being one of the most exciting talents he's worked with, surely a guy with as much experience as him must have seen those players coming through at youth level that develop a little faster than the other kids in their age group and end up scoring a lot of goals? That's all I think it ever was with Scarlett, he was phenomenally quick at youth level which is about all you need to be a stat machine down there. Has been thoroughly underwhelming every time I've watched him at senior level, just doesn't have the natural instincts of a striker and doesn't look like having useful attributes for a wide man either. Will end up a perennial championship/league one player IMO.
Veliz on the other hand, there might be something there, very well taken goal which displayed good striking technique, quite an awkward shot to make. I do think tall strikers tend to bloom later than other players, similar to centre backs, it's early doors to judge him right now, when he fills out he might be an absolute fucking monster.

I think he's gonna thrive at Espanyol, the fans already love him, he seems to love them... Knowing our luck, at this rate we'll struggle to persuade him to come back!

Blimey... He's an emotional wreck... MAN UP FFS!!!!!

Only joking, it's interviews/reactions like that that make you realise there's a human being in there, not just some robot.

He's basically had a year of football taken away/wasted... And now he's on a comeback.

Good for him!

“Footballistically” was the best thing I saw on the internet in the last 24 hours. Will be using that word liberally for a while.

Thing with Veliz is that I’d basically decided he’s a bit of a donkey but he’s looked lively and also a bit of a beast in Spain so far. Football can be funny at times. Richy staying put stubbornly has opened a window of a year for all our young strikers to show they should be the rotation option for Solanke.

Right now it looks like a race between Veliz and Lankshear.

How anyone can think they’ve seen enough of Veliz to make a full judgement on him is nonsense.

He’s 20, and has barely played for us. Crap loan last year due to their manager throwing his toys about. He’s in the same bracket as Lankshear, Moore, Scarlett, Donley for me, a young lad who needs to get football under his belt and could work his way into the team soon.

Appreciate Moore is even younger of course, but I just dont believe anyone has seen anything like enough of Veliz in his handful of minutes for us to write him off already.
