This isn't the first time a Spurs loanee abroad has been screwed in terms of playing time. Club needs to be more careful. I personally think it's better for the loan player to go down a level and feature regularly than to not play at all. Club needs to be smarter with these loans. Veliz might be more valued and fit in better on a young, hungry Champo level team because they are developing together and share a social cohort/purpose, rather than with a bunch of older, jaded Catalan vets just because they speak Spanish.Espanyol are atrocious, can’t defend and create the square root of f’all offensively. They’ve had games where they’ve lost 1 nil and not even bothered throwing Veliz on.
What’s concerning however, the only game Veliz performed well in was when he scored 3 against some minnows in the cup. Then against a pub team in the next round which Espanyol lost, Veliz was anonymous. At this moment in time he looks like €15m down the drain, never to be recovered.
The same Paulinho, who won the domestic double for Barcelona?
He's had plenty of game time but only scored 1 league goal and Espanyol are in a relegation fight so they need a better striker. This isn't the first time a Spurs loanee abroad has been screwed in terms of playing time. Impossible
You mean a dude buried in the Argentinian league may not be ready for the bright lights???Send him to a lesser league and see if he can improve but we may have signed another dud.
This doesn’t make sense. Veliz will take up one of the Johnny Foreigner spots whereas Lankshear is club trained so effectively is +1.The lad has been shafted again. We are no further forward knowing if this boy is good or not. Probably should have him at the club to give Dom a rest late in games because Ange doesn’t fancy Lankshear or we’d see him more.
Get him back and give him a game against Tamworth or get Lankshear starting against them.
Scored against Brighton. La Liga for a loan was stupid because he needs to play. He came from being a regular in Argentina to not playing for 18 months. A loan to the Dutch league or even a championship club where he’s going play. The championship is a tough league and we’d find out a lot more about him. This doesn’t make sense. Veliz needs to be recalled and sent on a better loan. Probably not at La Liga level.
Long term I have conflicting emotions with Veliz
- his goal for Spurs (I can only remember one but maybe there were more?) was not a striker goal as he fluffed his lines but the ball still went over the line. I was very happy for the kid but…
- he did his hammy one game where we had no more subs and tried to play on, by simply hopping about whilst the bench shouted for him to get down so he could get treatment/assessment. This tells me the kid has the heart and desire to succeed, whether he has the skill or nous is another matter.
Man, I was so fuckin excited about Paulinho when he signed! The most of all the Bale 7
Yes that one.
Lange didn't sign Veliz mate
I liked the look of him. He needs a good run of games the lad. Imo I think he has the potential to be a top striker. He hasnt been given a proper chance. We need to look after him.
