Another 90 minutes for L1 Port Vale today - seemed to be playing a CM role rather than AM role, possibly because another loanee was recalled by his parent club.

He's now started 13 x L1 matches and subbed on in a further 6 matches playing 1,173 minutes so far this season - worth noting that since late October he's played a full 90 minutes in all but one match.

He's also started 6 FA Cup or EFL Cup matches playing 90 mins in all but one match, totalling 513 mins.

Fair to say he's getting a decent amount of playing time, and seems to be well established in the team at Port Vale.

He's gotta stay there the rest of the season.
Still only 19.
He is not better than Bentacur et al.
Champo loan next season?

Sometimes putting a player in a situation that isn't ideal makes him even better for it.

He played as a deep lying midfield player when at Wigan - Spurs coaches moved him forward to a no 10 position, England youth moved him to RW as there were too many players at central option and a lack of quality as RW.

So very familiar with a deep lying position

He's versatile, tenacious and energetic

"Alfie Devine is all mine all mine...
Alfie Devine is all mine, C'mon!"

To be sung at the 2030 Champions League final as he runs through on goal and slots in the winner!

I know a lot of pundits criticized the move to Port Vale because of the clubs playing style. People thought Alfie's loan move could be a waste. But he's rising to the top in a non-perfect situation. Great to see.

The amount of playing time he's getting is good - started off with half a dozen or so appearances off bench but once he had 'earned' other players and managers confidence he's been pretty much an 'ever present'

Although its L1, I see no point in trying to move him to Championship club now as playing time is more valuable than trying to play better players in championship - look at Scarlett who did pretty well at L1 last season but has struggled to get playing time at Championship Ipswich - and that despite Ipswich being promoted to championship and having a thinnish squad seeming to cry out for a quality player to join on loan, but unexpectedly Ipswich are in promotion places to PL sticking with most players from last season, leading to Scarlett having limited playing time.

I'd like to see him involved in next pre-season to see if Amge thinks he would play enough at Spurs next season - if not its a Championship loan for him next season.
