Andros Townsend..would you to keep him?

Townsend is class! I like what very little I've seen of him this season. I think he could be the player to watch at spurs this season, even with all the new signings.

I like the fact he's not afraid to run at people and skill them up.

New Bale?

:balesnarl:

Don't know whether its already been mentioned, but does anyone else feel Andros would be better suited to playing on the left?

As a natural left footer he may have more luck beating full backs and crossing from the byline, providing better service for Soldado then he currently is with his right?

This would also limit the amount of shots he takes from outside the box, though they seemed to be the only real threat we poised to Woolwich's goal in the first half..

Also free up the position so that little Lamela can make it his own.

I don't think Townsend would be better on the left. He loves to cut in and shoot. He is extremely selfish in the final third, which i love about him. If you put him on the left he loses this.

100% agree. Townsend is a left winger. Play him on the left.

Checked it out, according to Physio Room (.com) he has an ankle/foot injury and is expected back on September 14th. Not sure how reliable that is though.

Well. According to physio room a while back Nani was out till xmas..... I look at it too. I suspect its usually ok but sometimes clubs close ranks.

Sept 14th is the next game so its easy. I dont think Lennon was injured. Just that...either we couldn't sell him or he is smarting that we were trying too.

Personally I love Lennon, he has made me stand up many times. But his final delivery is shit and he doesn't score goals. He isn't someone we can say will grow into the role anymore.

Give Townsend his chance. A proper chance. I've seen him play 3 or 4 years ago at the Orient and he was quality then. As he was at Leeds and Millwall.

Keep Lennon and hopefully he can get a bit of power in his skinny right boot. But no more fucking around anymore. If he cant do what a wide can then he has to go. And that saddens me as an Englishman because I want us to have an English spine. But to skin a man then skin again then cut inside and skin him again only to cross the ball onto their cb's head is becoming more than frustrating

Couldn't disagree more. One of Townsends best attributes is his shooting abilities and his selfishness in the final third. If we are playing a 4-3-3 I would much, much rather play Townsend on the right than left. If we play a 4-4-2 then yes, I can see the speak of Townsend on the left.

Mate. Really?

We play a 451.

Lets not dress it up. Look at who we have we bought. They are all interchangeble.

Paulino, Chadli, Demble, Capoe, Holtby and of course Sandro

They are all generally speaking central.

AVB wants us to control the mf and feed off scraps.

This is why a natural lw could help. I dont see Chadli as anything near a natural lw.

Agreed that his final delivery is poor and it might be a case that he's pissed we're trying to sell him. But he's an exciting player and his goal against Chelsea a few years back is a particular highlight. I think it's a case of 'what if' with Lennon. If he had mastered his delivery and was consistent with it, he would have been an England regular in my opinion. He's still only 26 so he might still get the hang of it :harrylol:

A 451 and a 433 are the exact same formation. I honestly don't know enough about Chaldi to say that he is "generally speaking central" or that he isn't a lw. I, contrary to many others on this, have thought Chaldi has been good. He obviously hasn't lighted up the stat sheet, yet he is always solid. Personally my only knock on Chaldi is that he doesn't have Townsend's selfishness in the final third, from the very limited we have all seen him. It's pretty obvious that AVB wants to dominate the midfield and have creativity coming out from the wings. Townsend on the right (or lamela) cutting in, with Walker overlapping, Chaldi and rose on the other side doing the same, will provide an both options.

pah!

I like you sanchez. You seem fine. Hellfire I would gladly have a drink with you.

But you know fuck all.
If you still think that AVB wants to have natural wingers then you know fuck all. He obviously wants attacking fullbacks to be the ones that provide the width. That's why we've seen little of Lennon and no Townsend on the left.

Saw Andros play on the left in an EL game a couple of years ago and totally ruin the right back.

I don't think it should be dismissed as an option.

If we don't get early crosses in occasionally Soldado is going to be picking off limited opportunities.

The directness that we miss from Bale could be something Andros provides. Nothing to stop him improving his right foot if he wants to step up his game either.

I can't see us paying £30m for Lamela and not playing him. Unless we try him as a number 10.
