Let him down maybe but no denying he's been backed more then the previous 3 managers including serial winner conte which baffles me but hey ho he wanted johnson he wanted solanke
I don't get this stuff about being backed. In the summer he was given one first team player as a downgraded replacement for the great Harry Kane (a year late) and a bunch of teenagers from the Championship.

In fact he's been given just one first team player across two transfer windows!

I don't think he's good enough, but let's not pretend we're the new Man City of the spending charts.

Poll is a bit closer than I would have expected.
Interesting. Almost a 50/50 split
I think it boils down to a lack of alternatives.
It's not even halfway through the season.
Do you write off the season now, sack Ange, and bring in a temporary manager?
Or, do you keep him on through January and hope that he get's some good winter signings in January?
Personally, I think there is a real lack of depth to the squad.
If you had two players vying for every position, that would push both of them to perform better, and would also allow for better rotations.

..defensive shape isn't good because - fullbacks inverting and out-verting up field most of the time
and CBs are regularly in the opposition's penalty box?

// . But the current transfer strategy isn't a good fit for how Ange wants to play.

what kinda transfer strategy is good?
what is a good fit? fast sprinters with the ball? hot shots like Hasselbaink? dribblers not required? good at frantic football? slow midfielder holding up play or slowing down play so players can get in shape?
Players with more technical quality. We need another CB who can actually play out the back, a winger who can retain possession and take a man on 1v1 and players who can actually combine and play intricate passes with each other.

I definitely would not want Ange picking our next signings, it will just decimate us even further. Johnson signing shows his talent ID is abysmal.

That's a good level headed post and I pretty much agree with most of it.
The only thing I would argue is that we may be writing off the season by keeping Ange. (who knows)🤷‍♂️
If he's to have any chance he needs some top level signings in January. But we know we don't have the wage structure to attract them, even though we could easily afford to.
And that, of course, is no fault of Ange.
This is why it makes me laugh when people say he wanted Johnson and Solanke etc....He can only say yes or no to the very limited pool of players willing to match the wages on offer

Obviously in!

Getting a new manager in, with this same squad and these same injuries, would you expect it to be better? If so, where would you expect this new manager to finish this season?

Ask yourself what type of Manager you would like to run our club. Ange Postecoglou ticks every box for me! Has he rubbed you up the wrong way? If so, why?

Backing Ange Postecoglou would see us get better results, right? We've seen it when this team is a full strength, full focus, full on!

Think about this for a moment... 12 months ago we played the chavs... this season, Solanke was the ONLY new outfield player to start... ONE PLAYER! He was also the only 'seasoned' squad player we added to the team during the transfer window. Go figure

It is very clear what spending money on a player like him (Solanke) brings to this club. Why didn't we spend on similar players? Is that on Ange? Is it on Ange that he is in a position where 3rd choice players are playing 2 games a week?

What we should do is back him, surely, not jump around never actually finishing anything

Upgrade players that are in the current '1st team'. Drop the '1st team' players to the bench, with a good £250~300m investment over the next 2 windows to buy the players the manager needs. Why not just see it through? Why not? What have we got to lose? What have we got to gain changing managers half way through a cycle?

For this, I'd say the bench should look like:

Vicario, Spence, Dragusin, a new Left Centre Back, a new Left Back, Bissouma, Bentancur, Maddison, Johnson, Son, Richarlison

That would leave; A new Keeper, Porro, Romero, van de Ven, Udogie, Sarr, New 8, Kulusevski, Odobert, Solanke, New Right Winger

It would also give Gray, Bergvall, Yang, Donley etc enough game time after the inevitable injuries hit, as opposed to the current 'rush them into the team' because we don't have players that can come in for those that are out for whatever reason

If Postecoglou had a squad like that, would we be in the same position as we are now? If it works out, although backing Ange is a big if with our board, wouldn't that be better than starting all over again? If it doesn't work out, fair enough, he is replaced

One comment: you are not able to register so many players in all competitions. Unless you do shenanigans and left out some guys from EL on purpose like Chavs did with Palmer. Won't change till Bergvall/Gray and maybe Vuskovic become CT in the future. Till then, we will be always short in numbers with our current injury record (for which i partly blame our playing style) even if we buy new guys.

In all seriousness I'm "In" but that's as much about not seeing a obvious replacement available now, nor convinced we have a squad healthy enough for any such replacement to change much. It's not like 21/22 when Conte was finally convinced to come - that was a gamechanger (one I thought would definitely lead to silverware at some point 😭 )

I think, with some players back, Postecoglou can beat anyone on his day and that makes a cup run possible (= desperate hope)

But I'm also more and more convinced by the argument that the style is not sustainable in the league (without elite players) and conceding the same type of goal is frustrating as hell, so I'd hope the Powers that Be are looking at long term replacements in the summer.

Even if we snagged a Cup I'd replace unless there was significant upturn in league results in the second half of the season. I don't have any real expectations of either thing happening.

in the meantime I'll still be singing my heart out at every game and hoping for the best. COYS

Ange will be in until the home crowd start singing 'Daniel Levy; get out of our club'.

As soon as that chorus is sung, by a significant section of the crowd, Levy will appoint the next cheapest option that he believes will assist him in kicking the can down the road to buy him more time.

For a Spurs supporter it is difficult to understand why anyone would build a stadium fit for champions but then squeeze the resources that would deliver success.

Levy loves money more than he loves Spurs.

He's done well to keep up the jam tomorrow charade for the last 5 years.

Without serious investment in players for now I suspect the ticket sales at THFC will collapse in the not too distant future.

By his own measure Levy has made Spurs a Category C fixture every week.
