We lack another LB but what other position is there no competition?

RW I guess if you discount Kulu (who some argue is better than Johnson and has played ahead of him in some big games).
What about CB? We've got 3 and 2 are out injured.
What about a striker? Richie spends more to injured than playing.
So we need proven CB, LB, RW and Striker.
On top of that I would love to see a specialist DM

I disagree. Conte was give Kulu, Bentencaur, Perisic, Udogie, Richarlison, Romero, Bissouma, Porro, Royal, Sarr, Lenglet. And of course the club did not sell Kane or Son.

If that's not being backed, I don't know what is!!

Conte's was hired to get Spurs a trophy; and hand over a working squad to the next coach. It was a temporary hire.

What killed it was

- death's to one of our coaches; and one of Conte's best friends back in Italy.
- Conte unwell and requiring surgery
- Many of our players with World cup commitments.

Basically, Conte was well backed, but didn't have the history, the heart and love for Tottenham and lost interest.
Romero and Royal were bought for Nuno.

Udogie was loaned immediately. Sarr was a kid that barely saw game time. Porro came in the window two months before Conte left and didn’t adjust well to the league.

And please don’t tell me you are putting Lenglet as a plus.

The flaw with the system is that it over values goals and it under values conceding goals. Correcting such a misjudgement doesn't mean you need lose an attacking mindset. It means accepting a simple fact.

In football goals are difficult and rare. It isn't basketball. Due to the difficulty of scoring a goal (probability)goals reward you yes. A goal though scored by you also punishes the opponent more than it rewards you. It's simple maths. It is also true in reverse.

To play attack through defence is to play a perceived weakness as a strength. Fine thought. However to be a strength it must be able to function firstly as a core strength. That is it firstly must be able to defend first and foremost. If you are overly conceding, you are attempting to walk before crawling!

This is the simple and understandable misjudgement Ange has made. Correct this fault and you will see a new team.

If Postecoglou were to be fired people would still wonder if the system could work with healthy players and at least one more transfer window. A big portion of the fan base would think he wasn't given a fair shot with a healthy roster and enough backing. Levy doesn't need the aggravation that would come with firing Postecoglou. I don't see it happening.
He has had a healthy team mostly and even then it hasn’t been great.

I have to disagree there.
This is the longest run of poor erratic form since the early 2000's and has been littered with countless horrible, embarrassing defeats. The football times has embarrassing and awful.

Nah. The end of Conte was soul destroying and way more toxic than this. Plus there was the Paratici embarrassment going on at the same time. The club was in the absolute pits at the time.

5-0 down at Newcastle after 20 mins.

We are still in 3 cups and the league is so tight for positions that anything could happen.

It doesn't really matter who the coaches are; we always seem to be plagued by injuries to Key players. My suspicion is that we are not doping as aggressively as the other clubs.

We didn't get enough consistency from our best players Kane, Hugo, Son, Dele

Toby and Jan missing 26 games collectively over 5 seasons. Fuck I miss having them two as our stable base. Two of our best bits of transfer business in decades.

I put Out... although there is some things I like. . we can get back in games when we fall behind and score a lot of goals in general.... issue is we fall behind a lot.

Other thing is when we are in front we have an ability to throw away leads...

Both stem from the same problem.

Take the two games against Brighton and Chelsea with better game management we win these. Postecoglous tactics/System got us in front it's also why we lost...if we won these and we would be 5th... He's the architect of his own downfall, carrying on leaving ourselves exposed against good footballing sides is just amateur.

Obviously it doesn't paper over other poor results but would stop us being so predictable if we just mixed it up a bit

You can disagree but I think you are objectively wrong. And tbh I think you are being selectively wrong to fit your own intense and purposes. We haven't lost a game by more than 1 goal yet this season.

We were 5-0 down after 20 minutes at Newcastle and at the same time the club was getting dragged into dodgy Italian accounting scandals by Paratici. It was probably the lowest moment in this club's modern history. Certainly in the PL era.

Definitely not objectively wrong. We are 11th in the league. We have already lost to two big rivals. Being in the cups is meaningless this early on.

We have been dismal. As many losses as Everton FFS. A proper shithouse mid table side. What were we, 4th when Conte was sacked?

I think it's pretty much the only explanation.

The Poch era was probably the only one where you would guess that we were doping as aggressively as everyone else, except maybe Leicester.

Again, we haven't lost a game by more than 1 goal. We are as inconsistent as any period but it's not nearly as bad as the end of Conte or Jose. Not even close.

So? We’ve handed Ipswich and Palace their first wins of the season. We have absolutely embarrassed ourselves consistently.

It’s worse. Were we ever 11th and a worse team than Fulham and Bournemouth then? I’ve never felt less confident going in to a home derby game than I did the other day.

Coughing up 2-0 leads for a laugh, losing to fodder.. we’ve got an away game next and then Liverpool. Could be fucking 14th by the time that’s done.

Shocking.

Every fckn thread on here has become about levy it’s so fucking boring. Is any thread safe from the inane ‘it doesn’t matter who’s manager, none will succeed while levy’s there’ etc

So fckn tired of it

Come back to me when we are 5-0 down after 20 minutes in a PL game, or when we lose to a Ropey European team who's manager is in prison. Until then, stop being such a drama queen.

‘Stop being such a drama queen’ says another fan in relation to Spurs being 11th in the table with 1 win in the last 7 games.

Who the fuck cares how many we lost by? We suck mate. Gala beat us up and down the pitch not long ago. Ipswich at fucking home. The Palace debacle. Cold Palmer doing his trademark celebration after panecka’ing us and then laughing in our face.

I honestly don’t know what world you live in if you think this isn’t comparable. We are absolutely marooned in mid table, further from top 4 points wise than we ever were under Conte or Jose.
