I have great respect for Ange's accomplishments across a long and varied career. It's cool as shit that he was beating some Fijian side out in the south seas to win the 1999 Oceania Club Championship, that led to them playing Fergie's United in the inaugural Club World Cup. What a journey across the continents.

But when asking a question like Poch vs Ange, the levels really matter.

Of course, I can see why people try and debate it as a general conversation but the two aren’t really comparable in any way I feel.As you say, different levels.

It’s a bit like people are also debating what’s better - Poch reaching a CL final or Ange winning the Europa league. Now to me, as a fan, I’d always rather win something than not so for me the bigger achievement is actually winning the trophy but it’s subjective.

More to the point you can’t really compare the two, one is playing champions league teams, with a different squad and manager and play style. The other is playing in a different competition against a different calibre of team. The only way you would really know who did better is to have a time machine and let them switch places.

The closest you can get is comparing Anges EL runs to a Poch EL run, but even then it’s tricky because Poch was in a EL where you still had teams dropping in from the CL at some point, this year Ange didn’t have that.

I just think the past is the past, and Ange can only really be assessed on his own body of work and whether it is overall good enough for him to continue, it doesn’t really matter how he compares to Poch or any other previous manager.

I've flip-flopped a lot thinking about this, but I base my decision on what gives me most optimism for the season... and I'm afraid it's not with Ange.

I think it's unlikely (not impossible, but unlikely) that he can top the Europa League win, so now is a good time for him to go.

Despite signs of improvement (including tactically) during the Europa run, I've asked myself whether I think he can completely turn around our league form. The answer is no. I think, realistically, we will be mid-table by Christmas, and he'll be gone.

If we did keep him, I think Frank will still be avaialble in a few months, so it wouldn't be the end of the world to give him time to see how he gets on. But right now I think it's probalby best for all concerned for a fresh start under a new manager.

The steady decline started when no players were purchased to pay for a stadium.

And the 2 elite goal scorers, Kane and Son, got older.

In my view, without 2 special goal scorers, it’s going to be tough to win the league or champions league. We don’t have that.

I think people just don't want to remember but....

We actually bought Ndombele for €62m, Berg for €30m and Sess for €27m that year.....and all when to shit.

Why would Brentford let their manager go midseason?

I admit I'm not familiar with managerial changes and how likely/unlikely changes are mid season assuming they're not a FA.
