I like him as a person and for the most part like the football we play. With the squad we have he’s done pretty well. After years of anti football he’s been a breath of fresh air and with investment in key areas we should see a considerable improvement. I also like Martin Jol but it didn’t stop me criticising how we invited pressure at the end of matches either.
He's been gifted a squad much better than Jol could dream of and he insists on exposing the players every game, I was about to say week in week out but that's not the case this season.

"I like him as a person" - You don't know him "mate". All you know about him is the waffle he serves up in pressers and the dross we have to watch on the pitch.

What about the football do you like? Is it the possession in our own half doing fuck all? Is it the fullbacks and midfielders being instructed to fuck off up the pitch and leave the 2 centre backs by themselves? Is it watching our keeper do fuck all to catch the ball and the rest doing what they're told by Mile fucking Jedinak at set pieces?

Don't fucking talk about Jol as if he was as clueless as this mug.

I agree that baldy is the root of the problem and has been for 20+ years, but a manager who cant coach a defence with 5 internationals in it how to defend a corner isnt the answer either
It's fucking shocking how bad we are defensively.
We're adequate at best going forward, but it's only down to sheer volume of attemots.
But we'd lose that'd at the expense of any form of defence.
If he actually committed to tightening up at the back, a lot of the attack would suffer as we would just have less of the ball in the final 3rd.

Hope I eat my words but he's gone by Christmas. The defending is bordering on incompetence at this point. And that's even with pretty good CBs, we're not talking about Chiriches here.

Hire a set piece coach FFS mate!
most of defending set pieces comes down to bravery and having men that are willing to stick their head on the ball.....we got too many pussies in the side who are scared of heading the ball and getting clattered...

vicario needs to be stronger and braver too!

its not hard for the man nearest to where the ball is going to drop have go and attack the fucking thing with intent...it comes down to having a set of bollox.

they are putting it right under vicario knowing theres going to be a lack of intent to clear the fucking thing.

no set piece specialist in the world is ever going to have son attacking headers like he wants it...not even god can do that!

The problem Ange has got is that he talks such a fucking good game, it’s inevitable that he will get judged against those standards.

I’m really, really, *really* fucking bored of him using the word brave when we’re the diametric opposite.

I think the match was largely played on our terms. We have clear issues in both boxes but that can be fixed. I suspect hes already looking towards next season and planning what players to bring in.

Dont tell me the other mob defended better. Our CB literally could have scored 4.

2020–: Arteta era

On 20 December 2019, Woolwich appointed former club captain Mikel Arteta as the new head coach. Woolwich finished the league season in eighth, their lowest finish since 1994–95, but beat Chelsea 2–1 to earn a record-extending 14th FA Cup win.[99] After the season, Arteta's title was changed from head coach to manager.[100] On 18 April 2021, Woolwich were announced as a founding club of the breakaway European competition The Super League;[101] they withdrew from the competition two days later amid near-universal condemnation.[102] Woolwich finished the 2020–21 season in eighth place once again, not qualifying for a European competition for the first time in 26 years.

It took Arteta time to work it all out and design the squad for his requirements.

Thought there was always a clamour for him to be sacked, the fans, ultimately, gave him that time and now are being rewarded with consistent, quality performances.
He won the fa cup too. Imagine us winning the fa cup! Bloody hell. Seems unbelievable! He also has owners heavily backing him too. It’s unfair on ange to compare. One owners desperate for the title & backing it up. The other happy with CL place & the ££ it brings in. .

2nd half was brave they did come out and dictate terms, was late but still you know it showed something sort of

The corner thing is ridiculous at this stage. Even after Son scored the penalty the Scum were very close to getting a fourth from their very next corner.

Forgive me but I might start putting a few quid on opposing teams to score against us from a corner.

One of Arteta's greatest accomplishments has been convincing his rivals to stick with their managers even when they've been failing due to that bad run he had.

Not that I think Ange is failing, but his situation just isn't comparable to Arteta. It's lazy analysis.

Apparently his system was going to do wonders against sides that attacked us, how did that turn out today? Or is it because Assna didn’t actually attack us like a bunch of brainless cunts and adjusted their tactics based on their recent run of games and the opponent they faced? Or is it because the ref fucked us? Or I don’t know, insert some excuses like 15 days break or Hojbjerg OG. You’ll figure it out.
It's almost as if they've got a manager who adapts the teams approach based on what they're facing, a radical concept around here I'm sure because of the Aussie fundamentalist and the followers of his cult.

Don't worry though, the Aussie slash Japanese slash Scottish conquerer will figure out elite football.

Bear in mind Liverpool are looking for a new gaffer as might United be soon, I guarantee the won't look to hire someone who's conquered Australia, Japan & Scotland but these are who we want to compete with!

Laughable that people claim to be Spurs fans and defend this fraud manager

Have to agree. He has a very good squad. I think Conte would have achieved much more with it. So would Poch
