He’s a fairly low level coach who is learning his trade
this is the problem! meant to be a big club that has a billion pound stadium and one of the top revenue fetchers in the world and we have young rookies learning on the job! mason carries no respect as a former player, he shouldnt be getting glamour jobs from the off and learning on the job! shit like this is why the club has been shit for so long. its amateur stuff.

Ange talking about how much he loves seeing young players thrown in to the deep end

After a season where he has barely given young players a chance

Makes you think he doesn't particularly rate any of our youngsters at this point in time

He gave lots of young players a chance, Udogie, VDV, Sarr and Johnson were in his starting XI for most of the season.

If our academy players aren't considered for selection then it's because they aren't good enough.

Such a stupid argument, unless people think that he should be throwin in Moore or Donley, as if they're going to be any better than Maddison or Lo Celso or maybe putting in Will Lankshear for Son just for the lols or maybe playing Dorrington when he had no CB's, yeah makes sense, must mean he doesn't rate them lmao

I swear people are so dumb 🤦‍♀️

Dafuq are you talking about? Coaching is a "glamour job?"

They're given instructions, and AP oversees everything to make sure they're doing it right.

Who are these "glamour" coaches you think we should be bringing in?

Fucking glamour?

Oh ffs
One of the worst Hibs managers and we’ve had some absolute turnips. The guy was absolutely clueless and out his depth even in SPL.
oh come on GIF by funk
Plenty in Australia would disagree with your assessment. Nick should never have gone near the place...

hes assistant coach at a club worth billions off the back of no real experience and a bang average career. hes learning on the job you fool and hes no doubt only there due to a hefty bit of bum licking and sympathy.

its glamorous in the way that hes at spurs already in such a high position and not some league 2 side where he should be learning. wally brain.

What assistant coach would you prefer to get in or even better, what assistant coach would you take from our rivals who you know you could definitely trust?

Are you 5?

I think I just answered my own question.

Montgomery is a good coach. He also played almost 400 games for Sheffield United, so will know English football inside out. He took Central Coast Mariners to the A-league title season before last with the league's smallest budget. He's a brilliant motivator and developer of talent, including academy talent. He did so well setting up the Mariners that they won the title again, against one of the league's biggest clubs in Melbourne Victory. Don't judge him on his time at Hibs, who were a basket case before he joined them. Importantly, he's a student of Angeball. He loves attacking football. Dude will hit the ground running.

And players?
To be fair, we haven't had to...
We plucked Vicario, VDV, Udogie, Sarr etc from very much under the radar, and for relatively reasonable prices...

They have all excelled, WITHOUT the need to spend ridiculous amounts...

...and on the other side of the fence, we have Club record signings Tanguy N'Dombele!

Big transfer fees don't guarantee success!

Does he have the respect of cabbages ? ( see transfer thread for context )

But you'd agree they go an awful long way towards achieving success, yeah?

After all, we don't compete with our big 6 rivals when when it comes to transfer fees, but we're the only one of the Big 6 that never wins a damn thing!!

The most austere football club in the PL but with an empty trophy cabinet as a result. .

The stats pretty much kill your argument, matey.

Oh.. And how many times have we gone cheap and finished up with a load of dross. The number of cut price duds we've had is countless

Stop chatting shit. He's been around since like 2018 and has worked his way up from youth team/academy coach to first team coach. He's been promoted and kept around by managers like Mourinho and Conte and now Ange. He has plenty of experience under 3 wildly different managers with different styles and coaching techniques.

No one here really knows how good or bad a coach Mason is but the fact that these 3 managers, particularly Conte and Mourinho who like to bring in their own guys, have liked him as a coach and kept him around is testament that he's atleast a decent coach and not a liability like some of you are scapegoating him to be.

It's most definitely important to get all the staff members singing from the same hymn sheet. Everyone needs to believe in the same thing.

Shame he didn't play for Real Madrid or something though in his playing career. As that automatically makes you a better coach. Apparently.
