Eh? and Roma also hit the post, had shots off the line etc.

Did you seriously watch that last night and think we look like a serious football team?

This is us under Ange unfortunately. We are a midtable side. We will hammer some sides, lose against others, and muddle along in midtable, we are not a serious football team.

It seems some of you are happy with this. But Ange is not going to bring us any success, we are nowhere near good enough under him.
Numpty Aussie me says we’ll finish top 5 (but probably higher) and win a cup this season. But will still be a roller coaster of a season.

Would you rather is become less attacking and more defensive?

I like Ange Ball. Can be frustrating conceding cheap goals but I love the way we play and its such a breath of fresh air compared to Mourinho and Conte. Going more pragmatic is a dangerous game if it means we are going to lose alot of what makes us so good

There is a middle ground. Look at Woolwich and Liverpool. You can enjoy the football as much as you want, it won't lead us to success. It is brainless kamikaze football

One of the interesting things Ange being manager of Spurs has taught me is that when he was a small child growing up in a new country “soccer” in Australia was commonly known as “wogball”.
The football clubs were a place of community for the immigrants. Not for most Aussie men
.

Where as over here it was rare to see a black player in the 70s early 80s for Ange the average Aussie wasn’t interested in playing “soccer”. They wanted to put on tight shorts, sleeveless tops and run around a big cricket pitch playing some made up game nobody else plays.

We should be embracing this guy who loved English football culture and kept his copies of Roy of the Rovers into adulthood. He’s just a big football loving bloke.
Be good to see him succeed at our club.
It's fully why I keep repeating I really like the man and why ill be genuinely upset when his same steadfastness in the face of bigots pushes him into stubbornness that will do for him. Last night is fully a case in point

what the hell is your problem? We won 4-0 at the Eithad at the weekend. Does that look like a midtable team to you?

If you can't see the progress and get behind the team then go support someone else you entitled bellend

You think it's entitled to want to see the team defend properly and not be carved open time and again by shite teams? You're a fucking idiot. The City win was a freak result. Means fk all in the grand scheme of things when it is followed up by that shite last night which most of us could see coming a mile off.

This is Ange's football, it's who we are mate. A completely unserious side.

Just put them on ignore mate. The only joy they get is by heaping shit on the club they supposedly support and then arguing the point with anyone that hasn't put them on ignore yet.

The kind of results we are having are the definition of a mid table team. I'm not sure how long you have supported Spurs. But the City result is Exactly the meat in the thin stew Spurs teams have historically been capable of. It's what our DNA is!!!

Bro -

We are 3rd in shot-creating actions against per 90 in the league behind City and Liverpool. We are 4th in goal-creating actions against in the league.

Having a good keeper is part of having a good team and every fucking team on the planet conceded less than they should because of poor finishing or every game would be 20-20.

Every team in the league has 12 or more goals conceded from 12 except Liverpool. We are on 13 - joint 3rd best in the league and our expected goals against is 16 - so these great chances you are talking about other teams missing would account for roughly 3 more goals conceded. For reference, Liverpool is GA 8 and xGA 12.

Genuine question - do you watch any football other than Spurs? If so, who are you actually benchmarking us against?

Football at the weekend was a place of sanctuary from the working week. A place the whole community could enjoy themselves.

It’s where his philosophy of aggressive, front foot entertaining football stems from.

I’m always interested in people’s back stories. He grew up in a county that didn’t idolise football like we do over here. And then took them to World Cup finals. Pretty incredible when you really think about it.

How about try watching the games? Stats never tell the full story. We are wide open all the time. This football will not lead to success, end of. The only way we win a trophy playing like this is luck. We will hammer some teams, and lose many other games. It's not sustainable.

Can't believe people are saying that a 4-0 win away at the champions isn't that great a result. You're off your fucking heads.

They're in a very poor run of form right now, and their morale looks pretty much on the floor, but they're still second in the league, 4 times in a row champions and that was their first home loss in over 50 matches. 50. If you can't enjoy that win for the week why do you even bother supporting the club? If they were so shit everyone would be going up there and battering them. But they don't. It was a great result and performance from spurs on Saturday. Just fucking enjoy it man.
Yeah, and Mike Tyson was the baddest man on the planet.
Just not when Jake Paul beat him up.

This weekend, City will likely lose at Liverpool.
Brighton will beat Southampton and leapfrog them.
Arse will probably beat Spam and leapfrog them.
Chelsea will probably beat Villa and also leapfrog them.

All of a sudden, City aren't still 2nd. They're on a 4 game losing streak that has seen them drop to 5th and 11 points behind the league leaders.
City are done this season. When they lose this weekend, which they will, they're out of the title race altogether already. The only way they'd catch Liverpool would be if the entire Liverpool squad met an unfortunate end.
And even then i still think it would be Chelsea or Woolwich that would catch them, not City who have do defence or midfield.

When we win and play well (once every 5 games), the Angebois are all like

And then when we get beat or don't get a result, they all be like

That said - fuck knows what we're really supposed to do with about 4 adult players left in the squad.
like, seriously, we're going in to December now with a bench full of boot cleaners from the academy and what feels like a game every 2 days.

We're clearly seeing different things so let's leave it there, it's fucking obvious from where I'm sitting but ok cool...
It's only obvious if you want to see it/believe it. I get why you would want to believe its sarcastic being that it's a thick as pig shit thing to say but let's be honest here...he's said a lot of things that are thick as pig shit so has history.

He says it and then proceeds to elaborate on why he thinks that way. Nobody delivers a sarcastic response in that way in which they elaborate further on why they believe something if it's intended to be sarcastic (you're probably just focusing on the initial "nooo" followed by the laugh but its clear he's laughing because he know that they know what he was going to say).

It’s sometimes difficult to see formations clearly when watching on tv but it did look to me as though Ange is starting to stick with the adjustment of playing the full backs wide instead of inverted which was a much needed change. So credit to him for that.
However in the final quarter of the game our midfield was being overrun and we needed to regain control. Bringing on Bergval didn’t make sense. He lost the ball almost every time he got it. I would have kept Bentancur and had Bissouma as an extra holding midfielder. And at 60 minutes not later.
Again we see him shaking his head on the sidelines instead of showing positive energy and being proactive .
However we are clearly lacking squad depth and options are limited with current injuries not helping. Even though Forster had a good game I don’t have confidence in him to be number 1 for the rest of the season and even more concerned if he gets injured . We need a quality number 2 keeper in January and a left back to cover / compete with Udogie . Ideally although less urgently another centre back too.

I watch every game - we clearly arent as wide open and giving up as many good chances as you are making out.

No one is saying we don't, but to be a mid-table team you need to be worse and give up more good chances than 8+ teams - we aren't.... that's where your argument falls flat on its face.

It would help if you separated what you think is bad that we are doing, and where that puts us in the league.

Do you watch any other football?

If we get more positive results than negative results, yes.
Unequivocally. There is no situation where I would chose to win lose win lose and achieve absolutely nothing as a result.
Winners can defend.

When we finished 3rd - we conceded 35 goals
When we finished 2nd - we conceded 26
When we finished 3rd the next season we conceded 36
When we finished 4th the season after we conceded 39

Are you not seeing the correlation?

Last season, Arse and City combined conceded 2 more goals than us on our own.
Don't get too excited about our current defensive record. We have played a mixture of traditionally shit sides as well as good sides in shit form so far.

****however at this stage I give up blaming Ange when half our squad is missing****
