Hey, Hrytn Hrytn …abuse the disagree button and again and I’ll tell Admin Admin on you.

Grow up. End of story.

I dunno

Maddison and Ibanez (if there has truth to either) are both very much club targets that were in place before Ange arrived.

Doesn’t sound like they have been identified by Ange, Munn and Gabbianini in that one meeting.

Certainly comes off more as “we’ve been offered Maddison and Ibanez by their agents, what’d you reckon Ange?”

Reports say that Spurs were talking to Ange as early as March so it's not against the realms of possibility that he ok'd them back then

As long as Ange is approving them; I couldn't give a fuck tbh.

Worrying about who scouted them is a step too far down the meta rabbit hole for me.
That wasn't the original debate.

Point was about Levy really buying into a manager/structure/DOF/Whatever or if the club (aka Levy) is still very much involved in transfer targets.

None of us know shit because the club's structure is so opaque for this atm but targets like Maddison and Ibanez were certainly around before Ange, so it's not the worst assumption that they are club (aka Levy) targets more than Ange/structure/DOF/Whatever targets

(yes even if Ange approved them)

Most of us agree that our transfers haven't been great for some time. Maybe club targets have been part fo the issue?

I don't really know, none of us do. Let's see if Ange really does get to influence squad construction.

Much the same; I think it's what the matter boils down to regardless.

We know more than this post concedes.

We know the structure; albeit there is a DOF vacancy.

Levy

Munn

< DOF >
& sub-departments (somewhat recently revamped by Fab)

Manager

Up until a recently we had a DOF, so "club signing" is merely a Conte-ism (rather than being come cast-iron euphemism meaning "Levy").

The pre-occupation about the extent of Levy's role in all this is drawing you away from by far the most likely scenario; which is that the cogs are still turning in the sub-depts of the recruitment team and these are essentially potential targets which existed on Fab's hit list.

He and he team did just sit on their arse from the moment the Jan window shut.

The continued link to Ibanez form Italy is the perfect indicator of this; rather then it being evidence that Levy is sat there tearing through his rol-a-deck and Football Manager 24 on his laptop.

Like I say, as long as Ange is getting a decisive say, I'm at peace with the process (despite it not being optimum); even if the broader process still awaits the replacement DOF.

Reports from Australian Sources say that he was recommended by Frank Trimboli as early as then but the final interviews were not carried out until May. These players could have been included in the interview but that is stupid and shows that we are still a shit show.

You can say that signing players for managers is what got us into trouble in the first place but we also have the unenviable position that we have just appointed an attacking pressing manager without a squad that can play that way. The thing we needed most is buy in but if the players are incapable of playing on the front foot Ange will not work.

Why can't Maddison and Ibanez not play on the front foot, genuine question?

If we are completely changing style of play and profile of player for our new coach, why are we still working through Fabs list?

If we really are.

Even you conceded you don’t see the fit with Ange and Maddison

Hello mr kettle. Let me introduce my good self.

I’m known as Mr Pot.

Maddison will have to play as a highly active midfielder required to press and has had serious knee injury problems in the past. Can he press like an Ange team normally does especially if we keep Kane who will already have to be worked around. While Ibanez plays in Italy generally a slower league for a practical counter attacking manger and normally plays on the left side of a back 3.

Perhaps these are just players that are seen to STILL suit the new style (and whilst some on his list are no longer considered viable)?

(There were rumours a few weeks ago that Fab was still consulting on a few things.... Perhaps he went though his list and crossed a bunch of that he considered no longer suitable?)

If it is Levy playing Football Manager 24 then why are they all the same targets from Fab's era?

(Unrelated: The mildly amusing irony is that even before Ange was hired Maddison & Raya were in a LOT of fans want-lists.... As they start to look more likely peeps are starting to get cold feet on them.)

Even you conceded you don’t see the fit with Ange and Maddison

Yes - on a fairly superficial basis - but I"m equally aware that Ange and a fleet of recruitment pro's likely know more than I do.

(Regardless, my biggest reservation about JM is his injury record.)
