Not the win you think it is man .. go back and check the context on those posts. I was actually mocking other people for being so defeatist. Especially with the first comment the whole point was the original post was ‘oh woe is us, it’s not a free hit but nobody can expect anything!’ which I found pathetic.

I never posted this as a "win" or a "gotcha" at all.I read your reply to Shady and I know your longrunning beef with him and how it can wind you up BUT when I read the quote I posted I thought " hang on... I'm sure - nay certain - that Deuterz has been as pessimistic about our hopes in this game as most".

So I checked the context before I posted. The first reply is to me making a wry post about TFC match day thread being a ray of sunshine. You posted - like The Extra Mile(sey) The Extra Mile(sey) - that we were fucked. It was funny. We all agreed - we were fucked.

The second quote of yours was in response to someone hoping we might snag an early goal and maybe hold onto it. I'm sorry mate but this simply doesn't add up to your post facto assertion that "Angeists" were predicting doom to lesson the blow of any loss.

You thought we would be thrashed. Nothing wrong with that - we all did. Just own it. Like.. It's literally there for all to see.
We had 2 kids on (Austin is 25…) & the rest are all senior players. We brought on Maddison, Son and Bissouma relatively early too. The way you’re talking you’d think we had a full youth XI.

We played the second half with Austin, Porro, Spence, Gray and Reguillon as our back 5.

They didn't score.

That is astonishing.

That doesn't mean Ange is a brilliant coach.

All it means that we are literally scraping the bottom on the barrel yet finding some nourishment. That is something to be celebrated. It should give us hope. Whoever is our manager.

It's depressing you think its more important to shit on this performance because of a stupid spat with Shady/Richard Arlison rather than celebrate the bravery of the performance overall considering the above back 5.

Why on earth not just say "fuck me - we did better than I thought we would" and leave it at that?

I just don't understand... (well, I do - you lose all reason when you get wound up in shit fights :D )

Post facto assertion? I stated BEFORE the game that the Ange Cultists were deliberately playing down expectations, as part of their tactics to shield the coach from criticism. I’m very aware of the tone and intention of my own posts at the time, the ‘I will be proud if we keep it below 5-0’ was VERY obviously not intended to be taken seriously.

It’s nothing to do with any spat. I’m just nowhere near as impressed as you are. Genuinely. If I was, I’d say it. We’ve done impressive things under this coach (especially last season) but us only losing 2-1 at home to Newcastle isn’t one of them. I’m definitely not going to use words like ‘astonishing’ because we didn’t concede in a half they barely bothered to cross the halfway line in because they were very content at that point.

It’s ok for me to not be as impressed as you are - different expectations etc. I don’t feel the makeshift backline was tested much. They did their jobs well under difficult circumstances but after we made our subs it felt like Newcastle had decided how to see out the game regardless. Which they did, with worrying ease given we had most of our first choice midfield and attack on the pitch. We barely threatened at all.

The kids did ok. But I won’t be using words like incredible or astonishing. I feel it’s a bit insulting to feats that are actually incredible or astonishing. You can obviously choose to view it however you like.

Fair enough.

Just glad you don't go to games - especially not near me. After 4 pints it might come to fisticuffs :cautious:

I assume none of the people round you were the part of the very large continent of people booing at the end?!

There was very little booing and most of that was directed at the ref.

Most of the south clapped the kids off. As they deserved.

The loudest boo was when Bergvall was subbed but that got forgotten when we subsequently took control of the match (unsurprisingly at Biss and madds came on)

Looool 4 paragraphs for all this yet you used me as an example even though I was clearly joking with my prediction...k then 😆

To be fair I'm Ange Out but I think most right minded people would agree that our over matched players gave it a go, never felt sorry for themselves and never downed tools. I dislike Ange and his clown ball immensely but you have to give him some credit for the majority of the players putting in a shift.

There is zero fucking defensive structure. Zero thought gone into what to do and where to be when we don't have it. So much committed forward it's just pandemonium when teams come at us. No wonder we get so many defensive injuries the amount of sprinting they have to do from being so exposed. Midfielders chasing back all on the wrong side of the ball and the opposition players. It's fucking ludicrous.

Yeah it’s why when the next guy comes in, the players with a bit of basic defensive training, should improve performances quite quickly. Just some proper structure so that teams don’t break on us and have a chance at goal would be appreciated.

I would add to that when we are on the attack, watch how many times the players pass the ball to a player in the wrong place, it’s never properly to feet, it’s always just before or in front of them, especially when we are on the break. Or the players aren’t in the right position to receive the ball. That’s basic coaching they aren’t getting and I think our coaching staff are part of the problem. They are need clearing out with him. An expensive process I suspect levy isn’t ready for.

Don't forget his special game vs Man City

Changed formation, felt like Sarr was almost a false 9, after so many shit games and fucking defeats

He changes everything in a game if we won our closest rivals win the league, he then has the cheek to come out and call out our fans

We're is this formation now? Where is this tactical flexibility? Only one game that meant so much in general?

Shows he doesn't have a fucking clue and just doesn't get it

He definitely doesn’t get the fans. I just think it’s obvious he doesn’t particularly like us and now the songs have stopped the disconnect is getting larger.

Until he has a public outburst at the players or levy or we get a 5 nil tonking I bet he will be safe. It’s usually one of those three things that lead to our managers losing their job rather than a long passage of turd results.

Because that second half Newcastle performance is exactly the type of shit we used to do under Conte and had the fans singing Poch's name in the stands.

they completely lost control of the game, couldn't keep the ball, kept giving it away in their own half, and could only ride their luck when we hit the post, forced saves from their keeper and Maddison flashed one past the post.

I am laughing at the capacity fo Spurs fans to see the genius of every team and coach we come against, even if it would have been diabolical if one of our coaches did it.
When we win, it's cos the opposition were rubbish.
When we play well, it's cos the opposition let us.

And apparently the ones that are ok with Ange staying are deluded and entrenched.

crazy that I made the analogy about Beyonce the other day and you took it literally yet you continuously preach about not being a "petty cunt" by being able to know what "other posters are insinuating".

Hypocritical obnoxious twats..the worst type.

Fuck me you woke up this morning still arguing about this, did you fall asleep thinking about how Shadydan was mean to you on the forum last night trying to plot your get back.

I think it's probably best if you ignore me from now on, clearly rattled over some dumb internet argument which you started nonetheless.

Don't bother replying to this, I'm not gonna respond have a blessed morning 😎

I'm sure there are a few decent managers out there, who could be convinced to take the helm, with a cleverly spun Powerpoint presentation, and promises of a competitive transfer policy that could land us with an elite player or two. I'd love to have been a fly on the wall at Ange's job interview.

Like?

Sorry mate but professional football players should not need coaching on passing a ball to a standing players feet or into the space the player is running is running into. It's fucking basics you learn before your tenth birthday. If my Premier League manager/coach is putting time an effort into little league drills then we really are fucked. They don't even coach passing the ball in the Isthmian League.

I think this guy is probably the most out of depth manager at a big 6 club since Roy Hodgson at Liverpool.
And tbf, he's not even fit the clean Hodgson's shoes 👟
Postecoglou has broken a goal scoring record in the EPL. This means everything! As soon as he gets experienced and talented defenders back into the line up, the winning streak will be huge. The reason Tottenham scores so many goals is due to the way his team plays. He just needs better defenders and possibly a better keeper. The keeper should’ve cut the angle further on the first goal conceded. He should’ve been out further and not showing that much of his far post, even though a handball contributed to the goal.

You don't sack a manager when the whole team are clearly fighting for him and willing to play through illness for him. Players willing to play out of position every week. Players trying to rush back from injury to help the team! You can't buy that. This is a united group and sacking the manager will only divide the camp
We have lost nearly half our games, that tells me this group of players aren’t to fussed about losing games, they are united in being shit.
