It shouldn't be, but so few follow that example, you do have to wonder.
It's exactly how he set up Roar in Oz. As soon as he landed, the club brought in Dutch coaches, they set up an itinerary that aligned from first team to youth, emphasis on improving technical skills and keeping the whole process fresh and interesting.
I was coaching the nippers at the time, when we were given the itinerary. We spent a season coaching it into the kids, then took them to an interstate Football tournament. My kids were U10's, as I couldn't coach at a higher age group without badges, but I had a crop of smart, athletic kids, mixed, who absolutely loved the change and thrived under it.
We ended up playing against an U15 team and absolutely whacked them by 7! The kids weren't told they were older, just to go out, play the way we'd been teaching them, and have fun. They couldn't understand why they got applauded off the pitch until we told them they'd just annihilated a team with players up to 7 years older than them.
We should all know by now what he did with Roar, he essentially revolutionised Australian Football with them.
I pray he's successful. If he's successful he'll stay. If he stays he will revolutionise the way Spurs are run as a Football Club.
I would fully expect to see an upswing in our Academy, with more products coming from there that will slot into the squad, or be ready for loan moves sooner than they currently are.
I rate him this highly, and have for near 15 years. I honestly think he'll do for us what Wenger did for the filth.
