Especially in an era were players need more of the arm around the shoulder approach than ever.He made a point when he joined that he didn't want to get too close on a personal level with players, which I get. But to not talk to them at all seems a bit extreme.
There's more exposure, more pressure, more eyes on the sport than ever before. And thus on the players. Players in modern football need a manager that they can connect with and talk to.
i'm not saying that a manager cannot be strict in today's football. But they need to be approachable and not closed off from their own players.
