People really under estimate how hard it is to win the ropey league.
Most of the time it's won by teams from Spain because they can rest players in the league and still finish in the top 5 or 6 there.

I guess the "unique" scenario we find ourselves in, is there's nothing to play for in the league as long as we don't get dragged into a real relegation fight

I think people are underestimating that Iraola will get A LOT of offers in the close season.
Who from? Unless Bayern sack Kompany I cannot see him being offered a bigger job than the Spurs Job. What is this small thinking we managed to convince Mourinho and Conte to come why couldn't we do the same with Iraola. Just because we plucked someone from the obscurity of the Scotish Division last time. Steven Gerrard who we all know is a shit manager won the Scottish League, so I don't know why we though the Pound Store Australia's answer to Gasperini would be a great choice.

I think as Spurs fans we're so invested in the performance of the side that we over catastrophize the perceived appeal of the club.

Yes we all view Levy as a cringey little toad, but you really think Iraola is gonna hang up the phone to the prospect of multiple millions of pounds worth of wages, and the possibility that just maybe he could be the one to bring a long overdue trophy to the club?

We're paying Ange £5m per year, imagine what an actual competent and qualified manager could demand off the back of that!
People that genuinely think the fourth most profitable club in world football the eight most valuable in Europe can not get; Iraola, Silva,Frank, Fonseca, Gasperini, Nagelsmann, Alonso, Terzic, Pochettino. Any number of talented coaches ( all of who are better than Postecoglou) have got Stockholm syndrome. Replacing Ange is the easy bit.

Lads Levy has given this maniac over 300 million to spend on Brenan Johnson and Radu Dragusin. Most europen coaches would not only kill for this opportunity they'd back themselves to do real damage. The club prints money the owners a joke yes, but I'm telling you lads watch a bit of EPL football out side Liverpool and Woolwich this league is bang average right now. Ironically with five sound decisions ( the first being fire the coach) we could be top four next season and competing for the title a year after.

our domestic form is a real concern
what we have done in Europe so far not particularly. weakened teams and still qualified on losing the once away to Galatasary,

not sure how that's not fine, most teams are unlikely to destroy teams in europe when playing away from home, especially with heavily rotated line-ups.
wasn't that long ago that Conte massively struggled to qualify from Europa conference group, jose got knocked out of europa at the first stage by a team being coached by a guy in prison.
Not to mention that Poch crashed out at the first stage of the Europa by not being able to beat GENT of Belgium at home, this was with our strongest lineup mind you, Kane, Dele and all
We were super lucky to draw with Rangers who lost 2-1 to Utd.

I reckon Pep will go at the end of the season.
Don't under estimate Chelsea in the sack race too. Won 2 of their last 5 and been pretty poor since they "entered the title race" before Christmas.

Peps not going out like this luckily. I hear he wants another tilt. Wants Wirtz ( Bayern favorites) and are you sitting comfortably...Saka!!!' 😃 😊 😀 So let's hope they keep him. Mascara will also get another go at it. Iraola could wait it out but there's talk we might consider Alonso so he'd have that to consider. If we ride out this season we are in a good position to approach a decent coach early.

So bleedin' obvious. We all have goals in life which in a perfect world, would go to our plan. But realists know that this rarely happens and you have to adjust accordingly.

See you and Archie Archie very logically point out how obvious it is but....for months the queue of posters on here throwing heat maps at me and saying "But it's just bad luck ☹️ innt" was very very deep!!!!

Wonderful post.

Especially love the last paragraph about managerial change not necessarily being destabilising.

And besides, if after nearly two full seasons the manager is presiding over the worst fucking results and form in living memory than surely a bit of destabilising is exactly what we need.
It is not as if we are stable now and will lose that if a new manager is brought in.

Just had to "shout" at Barnaby on his live youtube channel.

Yet another misguided comment about giving Ange time based on Fergie.
I pointed out that Fergie took over a Man United side in Nov 1986 that was 19th, and lost 8 out of 29 remaining league games getting them to 11th. His loss ratio was 27% that season.
What was Ange's last season? 12/38 = 31.6%
Fergies 2nd season at United - finished 2nd. P40 L5 = LR = 12.5%
Here's where it gets very, very interesting folks.

Fergies 3rd season. The one where many say he was struggling and facing the sack. P38 L 13 = LR 34.2% - only marginally worse than NoClue last season.
AND it gets wilder folks. MUCH Wilder. Man United nearly sacked him for losing 13 from 38 games.
This season we have already lost 13 games from 24. Our loss ratio is currently 54.1%

So for the love of facts, evidence, and fucking sanity, can you all stop holding Fergie's "struggles" up as a reason to back this and other useless cunts.

Imagine comparing Alex fucking Ferguson to Ange. Fucking hell

We need to be in the PL still, ideally.
