plus if we win this it will in no way get the trophy monkey fully off our backs. if europa stays as it is with no cl clubs dropping down, it's significance will greatly diminish year by year. i mean, just look at the clubs we went through. just look at the semi final aggregate scores. 12-2 by bottom dwelling english clubs? i know if any of our rivals were in our current position i'd never let them forget our glorious run through middle earth to the scrabble cup. i'll be very happy to win but folks are losing their minds over this just so they can prop up ange's bloated dead corpse and claim some personal vindication. it's pathetic really

It reminds me of that terrible Jose EL win as well, where they played Ajax’s kids in a final after beating I think Betis? And some other crap.

Sometimes the EL has a strong year. Sometimes the final is Frankfurt vs Rangers. Sevilla didn’t win this thing seven times but then never manage to get out a CL group because they’re a class outfit.

This final is 16th vs 14th. It’s two not very good teams. Celebrate it as a fucking win but absolutely no chance should anyone be giving Ange a reach around for beating Alkmaar, Frankfurt and Bodo. It’s actually embarrassing.
 
I am about as Ange out as can be, but who wouldn't celebrate winning a trophy? Not just to break the long spell without one, but also for the practical aspects. Champions League matters. It mattered a year ago when Postecoglou was downplaying it, and it matters now because of the revenue and how it increases the club's attractiveness to players on the market. I can live with Postecoglou going on about how everyone doubted him and he always wins and he never had any doubt. He's always on about something, and if he stays he'll just get himself fired next season anyway. If Spurs win it everyone, in or out, should take the time to enjoy it. Doesn't happen that often.

Nobody.

Everyone will celebrate it - I just won’t be bigging it up as a huge Ange masterclass or pretending I want him to stay because of it.

Some people will be bumping his thread and making apology threads and demanding he gets another season of this crap.

I’ll accept this EL for what it is, a huge slice of bloody deserved luck of the draw and of circumstance, and the players knuckling down for the Frankfurt tie. Nothing more or less.

The stench from within had us competing as high as 2nd/3rd and title challenging in the not too distant past, the stench from within has had us qualify for Europe more often than not during it's tenure, the stench from within has been a regular 4th to 7th at worst over recent years.

That might not be the height of the ambition for us that follow the club, but it's a damn site better than being in 16th place in the final knockings of the season.

The stench from within is why we're not winning league titles, the stench from within is not why we are currently thanking our lucky stars that the 3 promoted sides this season are the most abysmal trio the PL has seen in some time.

There's nothing wrong with having your opinions challenged...or challenging someone else's. As long as it's done honorably, which is what happens in a vast majority of cases. Plenty folks on here are class individuals with enough wits about them to act right. I got a lot of respect for Nutter-Naylor Nutter-Naylor Bill Madrid Bill Madrid or Fattynomates Fattynomates (to name a few) for how they interact. God knows I disagree with the lad 100 times a day, but Richard Arlison Richard Arlison will always have a seat at my table too cause there is a decent chap behind the TFC persona.

i'll be much more pleased with backdoor champions league qualification than this trophy. in fact, i'll be over the moon about it. not saying i won't be happy and celebrate the trophy but even winning this just doesn't compare to our finals run back in 2019. maybe i 'just don't get it' but i am in no way feeling the same this year that i did when we were tearing apart the world's elites.
