Ange has never once criticised the club and has stood by the players, only having called out Biss and Werner for not stepping up.

The fans wanted a trophy - and he's as close as any coach in decades to doing that. He knows the league results will lose him his job, but he hasn't quit, hasn't throw his toys out the pram and is focused on results.

Believe me, his next club will be one of the elite teams of Europe, and it would surprise me to see him taking over from Pep at City in the summer. Ange is elite, and a winner.

Which bit? Because Chelsea are objectively better than us or United and the conference league is definitely similar to the Europa league. It’s worse but lmao the likes of Betis and Chelsea are not a dramatic step down from Bilbao and United.

They’re both tag on sideshows to the champions league which are viewed as let the other lot have a go’ competitions. A way for the Sevilla’s and Villareals to win stuff.

It's also very much because every other manager we have had has NOT taken the Europa League seriously at all. They have all done the polar opposite of what Ange is doing - they made 8+ changes on a Thursday, usually resulting in a poor performance in that competition. Then back to winning ways on Sunday in the league.
Because they understood that the PL matters. They also, all of them, had no CL place to gain from winning the Europa League. He is the first manager we have had that has been in this competition when that is on the line.

yea the europa needed the CL qualification as a prize long ago. i always wanted us to win it back in the berbatov days, id rather that over a domestic cup all day long.

Yeah the combination of CL ticket + CL clubs dropping down into it gave the competition fair credibility, though obviously still second tier.

Now that the latter isn't true the 5/6th place PL team has to majorly fuck up not to win it given the level of competition.

The EL is obviously better and is still a decent trophy but it’s not on some different stratosphere quality wise like the CL is from the EL. We wouldn’t get out of a CL league stage in a million years.

Conference is worse. UEFA co-efficients back that up, and of course it's intake is selected because they have been shitier in the league.

West Ham would never win the EL. No chance. They would have gone out vs EF. Of the games we've played, I reckon West Ham would have lost to Rangers away, EF away, and Bodo away.

And they demolished a football stadium to move to an athletics stadium with the fans 48 miles from the pitch, in the middle of nowhere with no connection to their past.

But the BBC love those bubbles and jellied eels!
