Lots of apologies required on this thread, keyboard managers have their tail between their legs at the moment.

Most losers have no shame. Same with those actively trying to sabotage us the past few weeks or months. That said, I don't apologise for the criticism of the league form which is valid and needs improved next season.

The only thing I got wrong was I incorrectly assumed that because Liverpool and Woolwich were beating us comfortably in the league, it meant we were not strong enough to win a cup as we would have to beat those teams or similar teams like them multiple times to win a domestic trophy.

That was proved right in the League Cup and FA Cup but the Europa League was different.

I backed Spurs to win the Europa League as favourites at the start of the season. Injuries and rotations and a couple of draws and losses made me doubt that. I became uncertain that we could win it.

I re-backed Ange to win the Europa League since Frankfurt, simply because we beat the hardest challenge left in the competition in the quarter finals. I would have felt the same if Martin Jol beat Sevilla.

Ange explained this in the presser.

He made the call in January that there were not enough players free from injury in the squad to compete across multiple competitions, and he decided that it was more important to win Spurs a trophy, than battle week after week to finish 6th. By that stage we had dropped too many points to realistically play catch up. 17th or 7th - who cares?

He made the right choice, and that is why we have a trophy, and that is why we have Champions League football next season. And hopefully, that is why Romero & Porro will still be here next season.

If you think that makes this season a failure, I'm not sure you will ever be happy.
The trophy is great.

If Ipswich weren't so horrendous, we'd have been in a relegation battle.

We are one of the wealthiest clubs in the world. Nothing can justify finishing 17th.

Even if I were a completely brainwashed Ange supporter, of which there were approximately 2 remaining before yesterday, there's no way you can excuse the fact that the results were the same all season regardless of who was fit, and that Ange is a net negative for the team's results. Everyone has seen for six months that he was dragging the club down and this project wasn't working. This madcap ending to the year doesn't change any of that.

He still has no business managing a PL club especially a CL club.

I'm absolutely biased, but think it would be arguably the worst decision the club has made in a while to let him go.

Yes, the league season has been atrocious, but if (which I believe to be true) Ange did throw it all at the Europa from January onwards due to injuries and a lack of the signings he wanted, then he's done a spectacular job. For me - his legacy overshadows Poch, from the pure pedigree of what he has won. Poch's football was brilliant to watch, but we never got over the line. Ange has gotten us over the line in a major European competition with a worse squad than Poch had. You can make all the arguments of "if he focused on cups" etc., but the reality is that Poch didn't focus on those cups, and hypotheticals are just that.

Most importantly, Ange has now instilled a belief in this club and players which was fundamentally missing - they are winners. They have been winners. They can be winners.

With fit players, backing in the positions that he needs, he is absolutely the right manager for us going forward.

I've been one of Ange's biggest critics, still don't think I'm Ange in but that was a tactical masterclass and he deserves every bit of credit for the way he set the team up now let's bask in the joy of going into work and having a shit eating grin on our faces. COYSSSS

Look, we all fecking know if he's retained we'll be poor again, as we have been for his entire tenure outside today and that little burst at the start, and that he'll be sacked in October. So why don't we find someone who belongs in the PL now, at the start of summer, so we can give him a transfer window and build a club that can make a run in the CL and return to the top quartile in the league where it belongs.

These feelings of euphoria have to give way to a view of the future, and a recognition of the fact that Ange had no defenders left 24 hours ago for good reason, he's the worst manager we've had since the 90s at least, and the club generally is at the lowest ebb it's seen in decades.

Always Sunny Shut Up GIF

Never lost the dressing room regardless of how bad it got. That says a lot.

If he stays, the pressure on him will be immense from the start of the season and he will never be more than a couple of bad results away from being sacked. Doesn’t make for the ideal set up does it ?

The fact that the players are so behind him I think we should be too. Been a disaster of a league season. Ange was at fault for trying to play the same way against everyone, even though we had half the team missing. Managers can learn.

Stop being ridiculous. He finished 5th last season, with a squad that had just lost Harry Kane, and had to play Emerson Royal at Center back. He absolutely deserves to be the in Premier League.

And some people think the manager of Brentford or Bournemouth are going to be better. lol.

Now let's back him with some decent signings and win the EPL.

As much as I think he can be inept at times, he proved that our team has to prioritise on one thing as the squad isn't ready made yet.
It would be 'spursy ' to chuck him under the bus and not give him another chance.
However, if its the same results, then look around for a replacement.
He earned that.

He's admitted he made a mistake with the recruitment and that cost us in the league. He's also said numerous times (including his interview after the full time whistle) that we have to target "experience" in the next window.

Watched the game when I got home and we basically shithoused a victory which I'm actually very happy about and didn't think Ange had it in him. Of course it was probably forced with the injuries to Kulu, Maddison and Bergvall but the tactical fouls, the defending deep when needed, the Danso sub, the solid foundation with a midfield 3 that were just too athletic for the United team....he's surprised me with the way he's adapted.

The thing with keeping him is that hes already said we need experience and I don't think he will allow Levy to buy more 'prospects' without voicing his objection publicly after the way this season has gone.

If we can secure a manager like Xavi or another big name who won't be hoodwinked by Levys attempts to buy 'prospects' I would still replace him but if it's these Silva type manager then.its probably not worth replacing, especially considering the squad genuinely seem to believe.

If Ipswich and Co were better it's pretty obvious we would have taken the league more seriously and put more points on the board...we downed tool in that comp around January.

After the game in his interview with TNT he was asked about his change of tactics in the Europa League and he said that he thinks knockout and league football are two different things and require different approaches.

If he really still believes that classic Angeball is the best way for us to play in the PL then we need to say goodbye to him. Pushing the full backs into the centre, leaving huge gaps everywhere, pressing like wild dogs with no organisation, none of that works in the PL. If he plans to try that style again next season then we will lose most of the matches.

The only way he can carry on is to convince Paratici that he will play more sensible football next season. It doesn’t have to be full-on Mourinho terrorist-ball like last night but it has to be more pragmatic and more flexible. He has to respect the opponent and the limits of his own players. If he’s humble enough to do that, maybe there’s a chance he stays.

These clowns still exist on this forum somehow

Problem with giving him some time at the beginning of next season to prove himself (lets say 10 or 15 games like someone suggested) is that in case of failure we are back to scenario we had this season (no proper replacement available, unless you want to do panic hiring or give it to Mason).

Now its time to get proper replacement.

I want him gone,
there is nothing to suggest he will change next season and play the league a different way
it will be more of his wide open football
Take the glory and go now
Look at Man U, they wanted Ten Hag saCked,he won the FA cup, they then spent a fortune on players in that summer only to sack Ten Hag months later
